Phil Hendrie Dropped from KFI
(February 7, 2005) After almost a decade with KFI, Phil Hendrie has been dropped from the station roster, according to KFI pd Robin Bertolucci. The John Ziegler Show will move into the 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. slot followed by George Noory until 5 a.m. Phil moves to KLAC 570AM, the new home for XTRA Sports.
Phil's show is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, which is owned by Clear Channel. KFI and KLAC are also part of the Clear Channel/LA cluster.
I'm not attacking your preference, but what is it you enjoy about Coast to Coast? I can't STAND it but, until recently, didn't have a viable option in overnight radio.
I guess some of it is OK but a LOT of the people calling in really do strike me as kooks. I think a lot of them make up their "bigfoot," "psychic," "Ghost," and "I was abducted" stories. The Ghost-to-Ghost" and "Predictions" shows made me climb the walls.
Hendrie is history! good riddance...
Wish we could get George Putnam or Bob Dornan back!!!
woo! So they're moving Ziegler to an earlier slot?
about 1997 or 1998 hendrie was really funny.
bobby dooley meeting her husband steve in a shopping mall in the valley, she's working in some hot dog stand, and he takes her into the exit to do her, and they get married and have kids.
the elderly people in a camarillo mobile home park with 6 fingers.
the old guy who's wife died and his kid fell out of a ferris wheel and interupts phil to take a leak in the toilet during the show.
the black guy in carson who scrubbed his kids with a wire brush to get them white, and this black woman calls in thinking he's for real, and yells....
bobby dooley who's afraid her kids will get aids so she's mixing up aids cocktail of medicines for them in the kitchen blender, and housewives are calling in frantically, begging her not to give the stuff to her kids.
those were good shows.
I heard a rumor that he is being replaced by Phil Santos of the Citizen's Auxillary Police.
Nothing on the site you have listed says anything about this.
What abou the emergency responder who was on this morning? He sounded sane, sort of.
His real talent would be as a stand up comedian. Anyone that can hold a conversation with himself like Phil can has some kind of talent.
I agree....he is just over at 570....Ziegler sucks.
I liked the story about the strange animals getting loose from China Lake.
Say Lainie, InyoKern is north of you....better look out!
Fabulous!
I absolutely love Hendrie's show, so it's like having my cake and eating it too to have so many choices at the 7pm hour of my commute.
I can flip to conservatives Al Rantel on KABC or Ziegler on KFI, or if I just want to have some fun, Hendrie on KLAC. (Of course, if I'm feeling particularly masochistic, I can flip to Michael Savage on KRLA or Terri Gross on NPR.)
BTW, for anyone who happens to be in the mood now and then for standards (as I am), KLAC's old standards programming has been moved to 690AM.
He was dropped here a few months ago.
I still wonder that he had an inexhaustible supply of clueless listeners who never get the joke.
Phil Hendrie's good, I would think KFI listeners will miss him compared to Ziglar.
Did you ever hear Hendrie "call" a fake Dodger's Game? He was hilarious.
I was listening to that Lloyd Bonifide bit on Friday with a friend...I almost crashed the car....talking about the sheriff posse cornering the Mexican outlaw in Laurel Canyon and shooting him like the dog that he was
heheh...well, it's about 80 miles north. Home for a time I believe, to Mono County's most notorious criminal Charlie Manson.
You guys are being harsh. When I lived in So. California a couple years ago, I thought he was hilarious. Has his show really gone downhill in the last couple years?
