A great commercial that ran during the Super Bowl. I wasn't watching - my wife told me about it.
Watch it, and bring the box of tissue. You WILL be leaking...
I looked for a Super Bowl thread, but I couldn't find anything that seemed as if it would carry this.
It's all Busch's fault.
Idiots. When my son came home for 2 weeks R&R he and three other soldiers traveling from BWI to Atlanta were applauded by the entire plane when they boarded. Take that DU.
I think we've seen a sea change ladies and gentlemen. The liberal left is losing the battle for the hearts and minds of American citizens.
Today's SuperBowl program could not have been more patriotic. It's honor of our nation's founding, it's honor of our veterans, the renditions of America and the National Anthem were very moving.
I was favorably impressed. Then this commercial, linked above.
Very nice. Very appropriate. At last...
I turned on the game to watch Paul McCartney (I'm not into football)....and I was glad I did, because the "Thank You" to our military commercial came on...and I got teary-eyed and felt so proud of them while watching it! The best commercial, and I didn't even have to see them all.

Easily the best commercial of the night or the year. Others were dumb or even too dark - like the Ameriquest mortgage things.

I support that. I'd also like to encourage folks to send a note to the NFL and Fox, telling them how much you appreciated the patriotic pregame show.

Does AB make a malt liquor or at least a bock beer? I'd hate to drink Budweiser, but I'm gonna support them what supports our troops.

I think they are trying to sell beer. I would be impressed if they ran the ad anonymously.

And everyone in our group applauded along with the commercial honoring our soldiers.
As for the women soldiers being included, what's the big whoop? Women are serving in Iraq, this commercial simply acknowledges the fact.

And now, I have a brief story to tell.
I'm in the reserves and I've been recently told that I'll probably get called up soon. I've let people know it's a possibility. A lot of friends and family have said things like "I hope you don't get called up." "Are you scared?" "Could you go to Iraq?" These people who said these things meant well, but I allowed the comments to skew my thinking on the whole reserves experience.
I've also had some conflicts with members of my unit, so I had gotten soured on the whole experience. I had been counting down the reserve weekends until I could get out. I realize that's hardly noble. I had another tough drill weekend this weekend, and was so happy to be done so I could relax at a Super Bowl party.
Anyway, that ad opened a flood of emotions for me. It reminded me I had to look past the petty comments and disagreements to the bigger picture. Okay, many people I know think I'm a fool or naive for joining the reserves, but millions of people in America would think my decision a good one. If I do get called up, it's good to remember that many people support the troops and wish them well instead of speculating about the worst that can happen.
I really appreciate Anheuser-Busch spending millions to say what needs to be said. I sure needed to hear it. I don't consider myself a hero--all I do is show up one weekend a month. But I needed to be reminded that serving in dangerous circumstances for your country is a heroic thing. I needed to be reminded that if I do get called up, I need to consider it an opportunity to serve rather than curse my bad luck to be sent to wherever I'm sent.
