Some in U.S. voting with their feet (Barf Alert)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia Christopher Key knows exactly what he would be giving up if he left Bellingham, Washington. . "It's the sort of place Norman Rockwell would paint, where everyone watches out for everyone else and we have block parties every year," said Key, a 56-year-old Vietnam War veteran and former magazine editor who lists Francis Scott Key, who wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner," among his ancestors. . But leave it he intends to do, and as soon as he can. His house is on the market, and he is busily seeking work across the border in Canada. For him, the re-election of George W. Bush was the last straw.

I'll bet you, though, that the State of Washington tries to come up with a law that will allow Washingtonians living in Canada to vote in Washington.

Good! And take your friends with you. This guy is a dork, but I appreciate his gesture and I would like to see all the liberals follow his example. Don't go away mad, just go away!!

There are many in Canada, especially the western provinces who would like to secede and join the US. Below is a quick summary of how they think provided by a Canadian Freeper. Don't forget the border runs both ways. Perhaps we should welcome their worthy discontents.

Think about the alternatives if Canada splits (post I got earlier today):

Benefits to the US:

Territorial contiguity with Alaska

The largest concentration of oil in the world (as large as the entire STATE of New York)

Highly educated workforce

Water

Hydroelectricity

An additional 1 million sq miles of land

Minerals

Wood

The most awesome natural beauty anywhere in North America

Much easier to defend northern border with porous Canada

Best weed and magic mushrooms in North America

Benefits to Western Canadians:

No more marginalization by the East

No more half vote status (i.e., Western Canada needs two votes for every one in Eastern Canada for the same number of MPs)

BC becomes the second largest US state after Alaska and ranks #24 in population. Alberta becomes the fourth largest state and ranks #31 in population. Saskatchewan becomes the fifth largest state in size and #45 in population

US dollars

Can work anywhere in the US without needing Green Cards

No more six month waiting period to get a gun

No more 18-month waiting period to get an MRI scan while suffering excruciating pain for a disintegrated knee

No more 12-month waiting period to see a heart specialist AFTER suffering a heart attack or stroke

Drawbacks for the US:

Can't pretend "Canada is our greatest friend" anymore

Whiny Eastern Canadians and Europeans

Confused new American-Canadians who can't figure out if they're Republicans or Democrats - a lot are to the left but not as far left as the Liberals who govern Canada

Change venerable flag and must include an additional three stars

Federal Reserve gives par to Canadian dollars during expansion

Drawback for Western Canadians

Can't look down upon the 'arrogant' Americans anymore

No more health care for all

Become hated as we travel overseas for vacation

Can't holiday in Cuba anymore

Can't get Cuban whores for $10 anymore

Can't get Cuban cigars anymore

Can't get Cuban whores using Cuban cigar club acts anymore :(

Don't let the door hit you on the way out...
Good luck and good riddance....
Just make sure you go and your name is taken off of the voting lists.

Isn't there some way he can take two friends, and they can take two friends, and so on and so on...

"...more are pursuing a move above the 49th parallel, fed up with a country they see drifting persistently to the right and abandoning the principles of tolerance, compassion and peaceful idealism they felt once defined the nation."

Right. And June Cleaver once defined the American Mom. This country is more tolerant today than it has ever been. How else can you explain such court decisions as a constitutional right to an abortion or the right to engage in sodomy, the villifying of the Boy Scouts, a public that would elect Bill Clinton TWICE, and much, much, more.
We've abandoned the principles that made us great, no question about that. And after 70 years of the democrats calling the shots it isn't going to be fixed overnight. Letting as many as will go move to Canada is a damned good start, though.

I love the Story:

"This story shall the good man teach his son"

Henry V

Recommend the purchase of the Kenneth Branagh version of Henry V, available in DVD in most large book stores.

"It's the sort of place Norman Rockwell...

"It was a time of Protest, tie dyed T shirts, flowers in hair."

"It was a time of Bobby Kennedy, hopes and dreams of a new beginnings",

But now thats a TIME THAT IS "GONE WITH THE WIND"

Growing up is a hard thing for Die Hard Liberals to do, and the ones moving to CANADA are the BRAIN DEADEST Peter Pans of them all.

Let them go and associate with others that are HARD HEADED SOCIALISTS.

My 7th (if I remember correctly) great grandmother was Mary Key and is supposed to be my link to Francis Scott Key. Please don't tell me this guy is a relative. Oh well...I guess every family has got a few.

This is the answer I was looking for. I was wondering why the air was smelling a bit sweeter the past couple of weeks.

Let's see if we can get 100% participation from all segments of the Left - Socialists, Communists, Environmentalists, Abortionists, Amoralists. C'mon, folks! You can do it. You know you wanna leave, and it's only going to get worse for you in the coming months and years - that's One Thousand Four Hundred and Sixty days! Who could take that sort of anguish and pain? No one!

Go ahead - get on that plane, that bus, that freeway and make your life much more bearable in the exile of your choice.

But what happens if the province they move to becomes part of the USA?

http://www.unitednorthamerica.org

Imagine their horror to move to a canadian province only to have it become part of the USA.

ok wishful thinking, but the web site is real.
