JUST FOR TODAY

As I go through some "troubles" in my own life, I've worked out this "formula" to help me be a useful and happy person. See if it doesn't work for you!

JUST FOR TODAY: I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will assume to be true what Abraham Lincoln said: "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

JUST FOR TODAY: I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything, and not try to improve or regulate anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have lt. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will have a quiet half hour all by myself. During this half hour, I will try and get a better perspective of my life.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give back to me.

Barber Sami Mohammed, left, shaves the face of customer Hamed Taha, 39, as another clustomer, right, waits in line at a barber's shop in central Baghdad, Iraq Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. In the largely Sunni southern Baghdad neighborhood of Dora, residents have fallen victim to what they say is an alarming new militant trend of hunting down barbers they accuse of violating their strict interpretation of the teachings of the prophet of Islam. To them, sporting a trimmed beard or an unusual haircut is a grave offense worthy of death.

Other radicals have been hunting down the owners of hamburger joints because they insist that Islam is the " Religion of Pizza."

A U.S. military sniper sits in the door of a helicopter as it patrols the skies over Baghdad, February 6, 2005.

Watch out because that first step is a doozy!

An Iraqi boy peers through a hole in the roof after an auto parts store was struck by a mortar attack in Baghdad February 6, 2005.

Air Conditioning technology in Iraq is not yet up to 21st century standards.

U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment soldiers steer their Stryker combat vehicles toward insurgents during a fire fight in Mosul, Iraq Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. Their convoy was attacked by insurgents firing rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and small arms. There were no casualties.

The Super Bowl tailgate parties in Iraq come complete with their very own live entertainment.

U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment Maj. Mark Bieger patrols in his Stryker combat vehicle in Mosul, Iraq Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005.

The Major has had very few problems with "road rage" nor little difficulty getting a decent parking spot wherever he goes.

A worker clears debris after an auto parts store was damaged by a mortar attack in Baghdad, February 6, 2005.

Some of them more environmentally concerned insurgents have come up with the idea of destroying automobiles before they are assembled and thus cutting back on air pollution resulting from ignited gasoline.

Iraqi Shiite muslims celebrate their '169' party victory inside Buratha Shiite mosque decorated with candles, the symbol of the party, in Baghdad. According to results announced Feb 4, the United Iraqi Alliance list backed by Iraq's Shiite spiritual leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, has over 2.2 million out of 3.3 million votes counted.

A mistake by a cake decorator was overlooked and so the Shi ites decided to celebrate with a '179' cake as the bakery offered a substantial discount because of the error.

Baked ham, biscuits, red eye gravy, mashed potatoes, sliced tomatoes, Southern-style pressure cooked, deviled eggs w/paprika, string beans (not the french cut), chocolate pudding, (not the Cosby stuff)
and iced tea and coffee.

Ummmmmm!

So good it makes you wanna dance!

Obviously a man without political aspirations!

What a hero!
