Accused child abuse couple ran private school in Knox Co.

KNOX COUNTY (WATE) -- 6 News on Friday found people who knew John and Linda Dollar, a couple wanted on child abuse charges in Florida when they lived in Knox County, where they ran a private school. [ hunt for couple ]
One woman tells 6 News the kids who were apparently abused were schooled by Linda.
In East Knox County, a home that was formerly Mountain View Christian Academy was owned and run by the Dollars.
According to Paula Spradlin, in 1998 her son went to Mountain View for a semester. She says the seven children taken from the Dollars' custody also attended.
"They were, you know, adopted and they'd come from different homes and they'd come from abusive homes or neglect and that's why they had adopted them."
Spradlin says Linda Dollar told her she was a certified teacher. She also says the home where classes were held was well equipped for children, with smoke detectors, fire alarms and a security system to help keep students safe.
The house had several rooms and Spradlin says the children involved in the case didn't attend class with other students. "There was like five of them that stayed together in a room. She taught them by herself. they didn't mingle in with the rest of the group."
The Dollars lived with the children in a home in Kodak. They moved to Florida nearly six years ago.
Spradlin says she never noticed any signs of abuse. "Supposedly, it was happening then too but it was in the fall and winter and they always had long clothes on so I couldn't see anything."
Spradlin says the Dollars seemed to be very religious and she never suspected they would hurt a child. "Not the way they talked about God and church and their faith."
Officials say due to privacy regulations, they can't explain why the Dollars have custody of the children.
Representatives from the state Department of Children's Services say the couple was never investigated while they lived in Tennessee.
Local law enforcement agencies say they continue to keep an eye out for the Dollars.
A 3800 sq. foot home with pool and spa in Florida, yet, for only $275,000! Something is weird here. Here in Cleveland a home like that (I saw the photographs), a home like that would be somewhere in the $350,000 range (maybe more).
Good point. I didn't even think about that. Yep, the tub-o-lards sure don't look like they ever missed a meal (or snack) ever.
The real reasons they had the kids, cheap labor and free moolah!
At least the MSM this one time correctly identified this as torture.

I used to think I did but then along came Bill and Monica and I am now very confused.
Who would grant adoption of seven children to these two vile creatures? There are alot of questions that need to be raised about why there were no checks and balances to keep some idiot judge from be able to allow something like this to happen to helpless and vulnerable children. Too bad the death penalty can't be applied here. Hopefully they'll be forced to walk amongst the main prison population after their story airs in the prison break room.

This story really broke my heart,,IT brought back tears, and memories for me..I was adopted also,, My adopted mom adopted 4 girls and 7 boys,,and growing up with everyone was like Hell,, their were many times that I wanted to kill myself, kill them,,,No more pain,,, but back in the 90's we didnot know anything about abuse,, because we were abuse by our biological family and foster parents,, so getting abuse by adopted parent we thought we deserved it, We got a spanking which was more like a killing when we did our homework in our bedroom,,we had to go outside and do homework,,we had horses and cows,, so think about the flies and bug flying around you while you trying to study ...I could NEVER in my life treat a Human being the way i was treated ..I can forgive but cant forget the pain the anger all the hurt that i still have deeply rooted in me...Everyone thought my mom and dad was the best,, We were featured on TV and my mom was Advocate of the Year 1985 with Burt Reynolds In Fort lauderdale...My family is also Featured with Dave Thomas Wendy's Founders,, He was adopted also...You may check out the book .Title is "Well Done, A common guys guide to Everyday Success"...
