INVERNESS, Fla. (AP) -- A Florida couple whose adopted children told authorities of starvation and physical torture have been captured in Utah, officials said Friday.
Citrus County sheriff's spokeswoman Ronda Evan confirmed that John and Linda Dollar, wanted on felony charges of aggravated child abuse, were captured but she had no other details. Officials planned to explain more at a news conference Friday evening.
The Dollar family included seven adopted children between the ages of 12 and 17. Five of the children have told investigators they were tortured by the couple, subjected to electric shocks, beatings with hammers and having their toenails yanked out with pliers.
Authorities said the abused five had physical injuries to back up their claims and were so severely malnourished that they weighed no more than elementary school children.
"They looked like the photos that we've seen of Auschwitz," said Citrus County Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney, describing 14-year-old twins, one weighing 36 pounds, the other 38 pounds.
GOOD!
Oh Thank God! I have been praying for this. I bet they aren't smiling now!!!!!
I had seen a segment on the Big Story with John Gibson and they were still at large. This must have just happened. Whenever it happened I am thrilled they have been caught.
Hmm, leaving your kids, I think that shows some guilt on their part. All crimes are horrific but child abuse is well the worst of them all .... the impact on these kids ... I hope they find good homes for these kids.
Oh, and lets starve the parents. They look a bit on the plump side, I guess they never missed their 3 squares aday.
Get some rope.
Great news, these two are sick puppies.
Shoot'em!
Great! And I hope that justice is served! They should get death for this, but won't. They will die in prison, though. I hope the other inmates have a good time with them in the meantime!
Why are you so lenient? I would at least starve them and pull their toenails out -For starters. (That is, of course, if they are guilty and the children don't just have 'Eating disorders' and diseases where their toenails spontaneously fall off)
I doubt they are smiling either, they had to lost their plush motor home when they went on the lamb.
I know that they are innocent until proven guilty but their crime is the worst of those you can do to a child.
Off with their heads. OK, off to jail and toss the key!
read comment 4 I think you and I will agree
I havent followed this ...what is their motivation?
ZOWEE! I'm so glad they caught those two fat beasts. Now they should cage them, put them on bread and water, beat them with hammers and do all the other nasty things to them that they did to those innocent children.
Some liberal judge will give them six months probation, "parenting classes" and they'll get the kids back a year from now. Happens every day.
Good!
And thanks for posting!
Now: Where are the kids?
Anyone know?

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ In a February third story about a couple accused of torturing children who lived with them, The Associated Press reported erroneously the number of alleged victims. Authorities accused John Dollar, 58, and his wife, Linda Dollar, 51, of torturing five children, not seven.
