Inside XXXIX: Culpepper blindsided by erroneous reporting

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- This is what happens when there is too much media and not enough stories. One of the NFL's most genuine and kind players carried out a genuinely kind act Wednesday. And what did Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper get for his thoughtfulness? National scorn, thanks to an Associated Press reporter who misinterpreted the scene and never bothered to follow up with the key players. Here's what happened...
(Excerpt) Read more at startribune.com ...
I heard this story yesterday and it didn't sound like anything Culpepper would do.
Only from people who can't read between the lines (of the MSM) to save their lives.
....which, alas, is most people.
thanks for pinging this. I was very put off by all the Rush-lovers talking about the "culture" he came from...
sounded odd when I first heard so I kept my big mouth shut
I'm happy to say I specifically held back because I had a feeling this was coming. Culpepper seems like a genuinely good guy.
What I *still* want to know is.... why would a grown man want to wear a $100,000 (it was *70* grand yesterday...) necklace?
I love this from the last line of the article:
"...the next time someone asks you for your wedding ring or a sweater your grandmother knitted, you better cough it up."
A six inch hot pepper on a diamond necklace...
He may be a nice fellow, but JUST DAMN!
Call the fashion police!
There's a saying that "a conservative is a former liberal who's been mugged." Maybe Culpepper will join the conservative camp now that he's been mugged by the mainstream press.
what a coincidence - the people who bashed him must not be online...
seeing this kind of journalism exposed kinda puts the eagle-bashing articles into perspective, too - you know, for rational people.
I too figured there was more to this story. You simply cannot trust the media. Always wait for the followup, or find it yourself..
I (regretfully) was one of the folks bashing Culpepper.
However, this serves as an object lesson ofr all of us:
The MSM needs to get their facts straight before they go to press.
Dump the spin/emotion - just provide the facts. we can work up emotion all by our selves.
has he done anything to suggest he's a liberal? (seriously, I'm asking - I'm in Philly and don't get MN local news)
I have no idea. Maybe I'm guilty of "racial profiling."
It's called freedom under capitalism. People are allowed to spend their money on things they want to buy.
What a system, huh?
mad props to you for owning up. to receive said props, just send me a self-addressed stamped envelope.
The mainstream press wanting to put on their "perfection" status in front of the world. What a bunch of hypocrites.
actually, yeah. and not the made up kind - the rarer, harmful, actual kind.
while I did not hammer him - I gave him room for an honest mistake. however the mistake was mine and unfortunately I should know better. The msm most always has an agenda.
