Inside XXXIX: Culpepper blindsided by erroneous reporting

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- This is what happens when there is too much media and not enough stories. One of the NFL's most genuine and kind players carried out a genuinely kind act Wednesday. And what did Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper get for his thoughtfulness? National scorn, thanks to an Associated Press reporter who misinterpreted the scene and never bothered to follow up with the key players. Here's what happened...

Doesn't fit the MSM news template, unless it's Donovan, simply because Rush supposedly dissed him.
The reporter should be made to be the Vikings defense tackle dummy for a hour for being so weaselly
Me too, didn't sound plausible enough to be true......
But, heck, I'll still bash Culpepper all day long.....He's a VIQUEEN and I hate them all......
"I (regretfully) was one of the folks bashing Culpepper."
I admit I thought the worst of Culpepper after reading that first story, but I didn't post here.
Nothing new in that. When they are misrepresenting, they are usually just making it up.
Scoreboard. :)
"...If that's your story, then the next time someone asks you for your wedding ring or a sweater your grandmother knitted, you better cough it up..."Isn't that what Culpepper did? Anyone here cough up their wedding ring or grandma's gift sweater if someone asked for it?
Of course Culpepper is a nice guy...but just a little foolish. Hence the jumping to conclusions and requisite silly stories. [yawn]
Good post. The initial story confirms my suspicions that to be accepted into journalism school or be hired at a mainstream media outlet, the applicant must undergo a lobotomy, then take a test along these lines:
Q: Know any science? A: None whatsoever.
Q; Know any history? A: Nope.
Q: Do you consider facts to be of any relevance to a story? A: Never.
Q: Do you consider yourself a logical person? A: What's logic?
Q: Do you hate Republicans and conservatives in general? A: Oh, absolutely.
Q: What are your feelings about the U.S.?
A: It's a despicable place and should be destroyed.
Q: And the military?
A: Murderers and baby killers, one and all.
Q: And what's your understanding of the First Amendment?
A: That's easy. It only applies to liberals.
Congratulations, you are accepted into J-school. Or, as the case maybe, welcome to the N.Y. Times.
So did I which may have been the intent of the reporter
"....which, alas, is most people."
FR included. You should have seen the thread yesterday.
Based upon the initial article that came out, I trashed him at first. The MSM likes to mislead people. This is nothing new.
"COME ON DAUNTE! COME ON DAUNTE!"
I didn't even know about this, but Culpepper is one of the nicer guys in sports, which is a lot more than you can say about his primary receiver. Glad to see it was the media who ended up getting a black eye.
For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would carry that kind of asset around on their person.
It has sentimental value to him. One is in the shape of a pepper. This is what was told to me by a freeper who is in the know.
He may be a nice fellow, but JUST DAMN!
Call the fashion police!
Don't you know? It's all about the:
BLING BLING!!!!
I wasn't one who bashed Culpepper. It seemed a bit out of character for ANYone to go and take back the necklace, especially with cameras and reporters present. It seemed out of character for any DECENT human to do so without an understanding that it would happen that way. Culpepper always comes across as a decent sort, so I figured there was more to the story than met the eye. Glad to see it was just another typical MSM blunder.
That doesn't excuse your attempt to stereotype Limbaugh listeners, however. Care to post a thread apologizing to all of them for your gross mischaracterization? Hmmm?
Donnie Deustch had some guys on last night talking about their image problem with the media. It was a pretty enlightening show.
You should link to the other thread so people can see it.
I did post it on there yesterday

What does the article say that is different from the AP story?
I'm interested.
