Troxler Bump!
What happened to fighting it out? Didn't Cobb say just a few weeks ago that he was going to continue the process?
Bump, baby!!!
Reality?
At Steve's house on Highway 150!
Woooooo Woooooooo!
Thank you for the Good Word! Yesss! Troxler!
Hey, that's a cool picture!
I know!
I saw a clearer one at some point during the campaign, but now I can't find it.
Never saw it before.
Chalk up yet another victory for November 2004, the election that just keeps on giving.
Just like McDonald's says, I'm lovin' it.
NCGOP Chairman Ferrell Blount's Statement on Steve Troxler Being Certified Agriculture Commissioner
(RALEIGH) During today's State Board of Elections hearing Britt Cobb conceded and the State Board of Elections certified Steve Troxler as the Commissioner of Agriculture. NCGOP Chairman Ferrell Blount issued the following statement on Cobb's decision:
"North Carolina's future became clearer today with the certification of Steve Troxler as the next Agriculture Commissioner. North Carolinians knew Steve Troxler was the legitimate winner, and Britt Cobb did the right thing by ending this already lengthy election fight.
"Britt Cobb has been unjustly enriched by his stalling tactics, and the State should take a hard look at restitution. After all, Britt Cobb had every incentive to drag his feet, and he did so for months at taxpayers' expense.
"What concerns me the most about this lengthy election fight is the Democratic Party's willingness to use every maneuver at its disposal to prevent Steve Troxler from taking the office he rightfully won. This showed the true colors of the Democratic Party, and registered Democrats should take a hard look at their Partys actions the next time they go to the polls.
"Now that the political gamesmanship is over, Steve Troxler and the Department of Agriculture can move forward and focus on how to better serve the citizens of North Carolina. North Carolinians should be proud to know that Steve Troxler will provide the leadership and integrity necessary to the Department of Agriculture, as he focuses on the important agriculture issues the Department faces."
Big of him... </sarcasm
It's about time.
I got this email from NC Spin. Pay attention to the part about he found out that he can't win.
Cobb read the tea leaves and decided a victory was nowhere in sight; further, every day that went by further sullied his impeccable credentials as a career leader in Agriculture and as appointed Commissioner. The State Board of Elections had struggled with what to do in the election. As reported in yesterdays "SPINCycle" the two Republicans on the board would not change their votes and only if two Democrats were willing to change could a winner be clearly declared. It was perceived as an impasse but some speculate that Cobb had learned that two votes would change in order to certify Troxler, so Cobb took the high road and conceded.
Don't feel sorry for Cobb. Cobb already has enough time in the state employees retirement system in order to draw full retirement, even though he is only in his 50's. We hear that Governor Easley will name him to be his Agriculture Advisor, so he should have another four years.
I love this news!! Troxler was parked next to me at the Bush rally in Charlotte back in September. We all just stood and watched the traffic jam and talked. He seemed like a really nice man.
