"Some prominent activists involved in earlier confrontations have devoted a great deal of energy to investigating his claim to be an American Indian himself and have found no evidence to support it... At various times, according to press reports, Churchill has described himself as Cherokee, Keetoowah Cherokee, Muskogee, Creek and most recently Meti. In a note in the online magazine Socialism and Democracy he wrote, ''Although I'm best known by my colonial name, Ward Churchill, the name I prefer is Kenis, an Ojibwe name bestowed by my wife's uncle.'' In biographical blurbs, he is identified as an enrolled member of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokees. But a senior member of the band with access to tribal enrollment records told Indian Country Today that Churchill is not listed. George Mauldin, tribal clerk in Tahlequah, Okla., told the Rocky Mountain News, ''He's not in the data base at all.''

LOL - "Heap big manly Chief Ward Cleaver." Smoke 'em peace pipe!
Beautiful, huh?
It's only a matter of time before he snaps and the real Ward Cleaver emerges. I'm just wondering what it's going to be. Is he an Italian from San Francisco? A Jew from New York? A Pole from Cleveland? He's something that's very indigenous American. That's white guy indigenous American, as in McDonald's and Coca Cola and Buick station wagons, not indigenous (Native) American.
Also, those two tribes are separate and distinct, although they share a certain history. There probably are some people who are members of both tribes, but statistically speaking they can't be as common as those who are one or the other.
I am the Infantry! Follow Me!
Check out these pictures, post 99. Ward Cleaver is a member of the "white guy who passes as Indian badly tribe"

"without fear of retaliation"
Aye, matie! There's the rub.
Besides, he is evidently an "enrolled member" of the some Indian tribe from who he received a card. Kind of like I'm an "enrolled member" at Costco, cuz they gave me a card that said so.
Absolutely.
If that's the case, some enterprising brother made a fast $200 off a dumb white guy.
I flash my ID card, I get into any Costco, anywhere. Ward Cleaver might have some problem getting on the rez with his ID.
Ward C. Churchill being the dumb white guy, mind you. Just to be clear...
Welcome to Free Republic BuddhaBrown! That was one fine essay. I'm in awe of the talent that writes on this forum.

See My post #96 from The Rocky Mountain News. Churchill ain't an enrolled member. Thr RMN has the details.
LOL!
As time goes by, I like F Troop more. I didn't watch it a lot at the time, but when you watch those old shows now they are pretty funny. Storch was great though.
Wow. That's stunning. He very clearly advocates that terrorists should perpetrate more 9/11's in the USA. It seems apparent that this guy is open to lending his material support to the likes of Al-Queada. I'd be frightened to live in the same town with him! One can only hope that Homeland Security is keeping a close watch on him.
