Police will notify parents about teen traffic tickets
MIDDLETOWN Police Chief John Pollinger has begun to notify parents of drivers under the age of 18 when theyre found driving at a reckless speed.
What brought it to a head was on Jan. 1, I pulled over a kid on Navesink River Road doing 85 mph in 40 mph zone, 100 yards before McClees Creek, said Pollinger. The kid wouldnt have survived going over the hump at 85. He wouldve been killed.
A year previous, two teens were killed at the same location. Police estimated that the driver was operating at a speed of 60 mph before losing control of the vehicle, hitting another car head on and then landing against a tree which ultimately killed two of the three passengers.
Id rather have a letter in the mail than a knock on the door, said the chief. Ive knocked on too many doors in the middle of the night.
Pollinger has issued seven letters to parents since the beginning of the year.
The kids think theyre invincible, said Pollinger. Twenty will show up to put flowers on a road side memorial, and then its right back to the same behavior. ... I tell them, this isnt a movie set.
Pollinger, although not obligated by law to notify parents, said he has a moral obligation to do so.
While our state juvenile laws require parental notification any time a person under the age of 18 is taken into custody for even a minor criminal offense, no such requirement exists for parents to be notified when their son or daughter operates a vehicle in such a manner that would be likely to cause serious injury or death to themselves or others, Pollinger said in a press release announcing the new procedure.
Ive seen too many parents crushed and had their lives changed forever because of one stupid mistake, said the chief.
The procedure went into effect Jan. 3.
It's a great idea and the police chief is right in saying that it's the moral thing to do by notifying the parents. Let's face it, the kids usually hide these things from their parents.
It's just too bad that when it comes to abortion all morals and values do not apply where the NJ state legislature all Led by Catholics: Assembly Speaker, Senate President & Governor where all voted no to parental notification refusing to do the moral thing.
It's also legal in NJ for the education establishment to facilitate, drive, and do all things possible to enable a girl to get an abortion w/o the parent(s) knowledge. Death in the womb of a teenager is within the law and is condoned.
In addition to the invasive procedure, their daughters may be victims of statutory rape, child abuse and of contracting STD's which can stay with them for life and increase the rates of uterine/cervical cancer from these viruses and face an increase in the rate of breast cancer from having the abortion. She can also die from the procedure.
The parents should be notified.
Isn't speeding a "choice?" ;^)
I can certify that driving on this road at that speed is insane. I'm suprised the driver didn't launch himself/herself off of the road and fall into the Navesink river about 50-75 ft below...Although, if he would have crashed into Bon Jovi's mansion, it may not have been that much of a tragedy...
Also, we are making headway on abortion. Observe all the Democrats either doing pseudo-triangulation or trying to play both sides of this issue. They think they are racking up political points by doing this, but voters are smart and know when someone is throwing dust in the air. What these politicians are actually doing is demonstrating that abortion has been successfully stigmatized.
This is great! My son, had his license only two weeks when I received a note from our local policeman that he'd stopped him for failing to stop at a stop sign. I was so pleased, my son had forgotten to let us know that he'd been stopped but not ticketed and he was underage....
I was quite grateful to the officer to take the time to let us know.
pseudo-triangulation >>>
Did you see the cartoon in the ny post today? LOL
Here's a letter from today's West Side Spirit.

Dear Editor:
As a Democratic candidate for City Council concerned about our party's devastating defeat this past November, I welcome Senator Clinton's efforts to find common ground with pro-life citizens.
I just met with the staffs of Senator Baye [sic] of Indiana and Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio, both Democrats seeking common ground. I proposed that the Federal government fund pro-life clinics, conduct a media campaign about abortion alternatives, and offer tax breaks and prenatal care to the poor and pregnant.
I think this program would help women and families to make a true, free choice.

So parents are notified of traffic tickets....
And hormone crazed boys are arrested for not yet knowing how to control themselves.
Yet abortions for all.
4 Students Charged with Fondling
BELMAR, NJ-February 2, 2005 Four seventh-grade boys at Saint Rose Grammar School in Belmar are accused of fondling at least ten female classmates.
Monmouth County Prosecutor John Kaye says the boys are each charged with one count of criminal sexual contact and harassment. Kaye says the case will likely be handled in family court.
Their names have not been released because of their ages.
The prosecutor says no clothing was removed and the girls said they were touched all over their bodies.
A spokeswoman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton, which oversees Saint Rose, says the boys have been suspended.
The diocese and school will hold a meeting for parents on Monday night.
Why should someone who recognizes abortion as the horror that it is be inclined to support some ersatz pro-life 'Rat candidate, when they can usually (not always) find a sympathetic ear in the Republican candidate? Which national party has as one of its fundamental tenets the protection of innocent life? Which party is more tolerant of pro-life views? Which party at their national convention sought to silence those members who expressed pro-life views? Unless it is a 'Rat who has been reliably pro-life in both voting and espousing those views, I would view with justifiable skepticism any 'Rat who starts seeking "common ground" who has been unalterably pro-death up to that point. One has to suspect political motives, rather than any real concern for unborn children, as the driving force.
Well, of course! These fake positions are designed to make Dems who are Dems through and through but having qualms about abortion keep voting for these creeps.
If this is true...then we simply need to make the act of a teen going to an abortion clinic as a ticket offense...and let the cops do their apparent job...unless they think they "can't" do the job...then we can fire them.
There's much here I don't understand...approximately fourteen good kids, who are consciously and unconsiously exposed to sex everyday on T.V., magazine ads and in the news, have been "busted" for inappropriate curiosity? Now only the four boys are responsible ? Please. These boys and girls new what they were doing and were having fun with it. Was it inappropriate, yes. Does someone need to sit all these kids down and have a much needed talk with them, yes.
But with the information I have read and as a parent with a younger child in St.Rose Grammar School, I'm seriously concerned about how "anal" and unaware adults are behaving in handling this matter....we don't know the families of the four boys, but as a parent my heart goes out to them and their sons for not only for the public embarrassment but now to have to endure "criminal charges"???
