Schools Official Assails 'Gay Lifestyle'

A Fairfax County School Board member has sent letters to the district's 24 high school principals urging them to ensure that students hear the views of people who believe that homosexuality is a choice and a "very destructive lifestyle."

In a Jan. 30 letter, Stephen M. Hunt (At Large) asked the principals to host speakers with an "ex-gay perspective" and offer students, teachers and counselors literature provided by the conservative group Concerned Women for America and other organizations.

"Children are being taught that homosexuality is normal and natural. It is neither," Hunt wrote. "To state that it is normal or natural is to promote the myth that accompanies the homosexual activist rhetoric."

...

But in the letter Hunt said students often are exposed to the "Will and Grace version of homosexuality." He contended in the letter that gays often suffer drug and alcohol abuse or physical abuse and that gay men don't live as long as heterosexual counterparts. "There are huge ramifications for people who may make a choice to go into that lifestyle, and we should make sure they are fully aware of the entire issue," Hunt said in an interview.

The examples I've seen have been either instances of triggering intercourse behavior by coincidental combinations of conditions that merely get near enough to the natural set of conditions to start the response, like, for instance, a dog humping your leg, or erractic responses to unnatural surroundings, like, for instance, all male herd animals kept in a crowded pen under bright, 24 hour flouresent lighting.

I seem to remember some instances of male birds of some species establishing some kind of life relationship, though details weren't provided.

If someone believes in evolution, the notion of normal homosexuality must be absurd, and if one believes in Intelligent Design that notion must mean the Designer is a nihilist.

I received a reply to my supportive email to Mr. Hunt today. Others received the same email. For those in the Fairfax County area, you might be interested in reading it.

"Thank you so very much for your support regarding allowing all sides, especially the ex-gay perspective, to be included in the discussions on homosexuality that occur outside of the FLE curriculum.  It has been a great encouragement to receive your emails especially in light of the hatred that has filled so many of the emails from the contrary view.  I apologize for a generic email response but I received a great many emails and have not had time to reply to each one individually.   Mr. Rigby, a homosexual activist and FCPS special education teacher, has informed the school board that he will be bringing a group of his supporters to address the board on this issue at the regular school board meeting on this coming Thursday.  If you are interested in attending the meeting to show your support for free speech and the respect of differing opinions, the meeting starts at 8pm and is at Luther Jackson Middle School (3020 Gallows Rd, just north of route 50 on Gallows Rd).  If you are interested in speaking, the speaker sign up begins at 7:30 and will probably fill up very quickly.  If you are interested in speaking you might contact Kathy Stohr, who has asked for anyone interested in speaking to contact her.  Her email is in the “cc” line of this email.   Again, thank you for your support.   Sincerely, Steve Hunt “Still” Fairfax County School Board Member, At-large
