In Bristol, England, a group of university students including myself put up a window display of pictures to show our support for Bush but are met with nothing but undemocractic resistance, including:
The lack of freedom of expression in this country is shocking.
Welcome to FR.
In Iraq they step over pools of blood to vote. Suck it up, be strong. And thank you for your support.
Oh that's right -- Christian-are-evil, and Gay-is-Good.
You've taken the first step. When the UK's solid citizens start seeing examples (like this) of how undemocratic the left is they'll start getting riled up.
Just remember, Orwell was English after all.
Good grief. That's a small display, and people got that upset?
POWER TO YOU, brothers and sisters!
Btw, what is local law enforcement's reaction?
Amazingly so! We thought it was very discreet. Aside from the people that were abusive, literally everyone I saw walking past starred at in disbelief like we were from a different planet.
Truthfully, if you had been in a university town over here (aside from Utah and the South), the same thing would have happened.
Your right to free speech (whatever rights you have over there) are invalid in certain zones. These zones are primarily higher education, progressive churches, and state-subsidized schools. Oh, I forgot the courts.
I feel for you friend. At least you can whack any psychos that break into your flat. Sort of.
I haven't met a group of 10 leftists yet that I couldn't take with 1 arm tied behind my back. They are all wusses.
Wait until Janet "Sterno" Reno shows up with tanks and flame throwers.
Wow. Asking G-d to bless someone is extremely offensive. You should take that down immediately. Also, please send someone to repaint my car because it has been keyed.
Welcome to FR. Put up a picture of Hitler and write under it, "You all win".
Are you British or American?
I like that idea, or something to that effect.
gee how elequent....
The grace of FR...
Welcome themeaningoftruth.
Thanks for showing your support to us. It's welcome here...we don't throw eggs.
We told the police about it but they didn't seem to take it seriously. They said unless one of us was actually assaulted there is nothing they can do. They also said it was our neighbours' right to show their disagreement with it otherwise. But by doing that they've stopped our freedom of expression. It is entirely unfair.
