Based on the new 500 Magnum "X" Frame.

Uses standard .454 45 Colt type bullets.

By the way this will penetrate any Cat II or III vest.

FOFL ---- You use .454 Cassul ammo for 'lighter' loads.

I hope it is as heavy as the 500 guns are. I've shot a .454 Casull in Ruger, and it's the only gun ever to split my grip when I fired it. I shot a 500 two weeks back, and I kept that one down remarkably well. My word is that the 500s are more manageable than the 454. The trouble is, I already have a lot of 45 Colt around.

I don't know if anyone else had the same experiences. I hope the range gets one in to rent so I can try this new 460.

Crikey! That's a whale of a pistol! If you're hunting the big stuff I would imagine it's top notch.

All I need is to keep the bears at bay when I'm out with my telescope. I'll stick with my trusty old Super Black Hawk .44 mag. :)

Penetrate! This thing will penetrate a 3/4 inch piece of sheet steel.

Don't mind the drool; it's one hellofagun, and it comes pretty damn close to the Big Brother 500 Magnums.

Looks like the gun that the Joker used to shoot down the Batplane, in the first Batman movie :)

I forget. Have we forgiven S&W for playing footsie with the Clintonistas?

From Gary Reeder:

"This one item seems to be known already all across the country as I have had literally dozens of people call about it. It is the new 460 S&W cartridge and gun. This one is simply put, a new longer 454 or 45 long colt. The case length is 1.8, much longer than the regular 45 long colt and much longer than the 454. It will be released in the new X frame from Smith & Wesson. From what I have heard this one should be a real thumper."

That gun is naked, and I imagine it is distracting people who should otherwise be doing work...

I have to ask, why?
What purpose doe's this serve?
I've take everything short of Elk with either 44 mags or 45 long colts. Have only had to shot one animal twice, it was 365lb hog in Albany TX. Being able to make a fast second shot is pretty important, the hog proved that. If you feel you need that much knock down, carry a rifle.
Anybody remember the Century Arms 45-70? I was damn near as heavy as a rifle, and the recoil was brutal.
