Education Secretary takes stand for your family; bombarded by homosexual activists

This is an update email I received that might interest many. I wrote the suggested letter to Margaret Spellings, and hope you all will also. SHe is being bombarded by the homosexual activists. Lets show her our suppost!!

Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, in her first day on the job, told Public Broadcasting System officials that a cartoon promoting the homosexual lifestyle should not be broadcast on their tax-supported stations.

She said that many parents would not want their children exposed to the homosexual lifestyle.

A spokesman for PBS said that the government-funded network had agreed not to air the cartoon. "Postcards From Buster" shows the title character, an animated bunny, on a trip to Vermont, a state that recognizes homosexual civil unions. The episode included two lesbian couples.

Spellings told PBS (1) that her department's seal or any statement linking the department to the show be removed, (2) that PBS notify its member stations the nature of the show, and (3) that a refund "in the interest of avoiding embroiling the Ready-to-Learn program in a controversy that will only hurt it."

PBS, unlike other non-commercial stations, receives hundreds of millions of tax dollars. Other non-commercial stations depend on their listeners for financial support. PBS's viewing audience is basically affluent and well educated, but give only a small amount to support PBS.

Secretary Spellings has been ridiculed in the media and bombarded by the homosexual community because of her stand. The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest homosexual activist organization, blasted Spellings for criticizing the episode.

HRC's Winnie Stachelberg said, "The secretary's first act in office denies children an education about the diversity of American families. Teaching children about respect for differences promotes tolerance of their fellow human beings."

The homosexual community has long used PBS and public schools to promote their agenda.

Please send a thank you to Secretary Spellings for her bold stand. Homosexuals are using their public attack on Secretary Spellings to keep her from taking similar actions in the future and to scare others from following her lead. We must not let that happen.

Thanks for caring enough to stand up for your children and grandchildren

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman American Family Association

P.S. Please forward this email to family and friends.

The kindest and most diplomatic thing I can say about this meandering incoherent collection of warped opinion, is. Thank you for the kind thought, but no thank you.

Tolerance of everything promotes tolerace of anything. Not on my list of child rearing priorities, thankyouverymuch.

No she's not. Any parent can teach their child anything they want. She's just making sure that taxpayer dollars don't go to pay for something that will likely undermine what parents are teaching their children.

I was just wondering - how do we know these female pairs are lesbian couples? Is it spelled out? Or unmistakably implied? Or are they just two women wearing plaid shirts and making maple syrup, who could be sisters, or neighbors?

There was one postcards episode where a Muslim girl in Chicago took Buster on a tour of her school and neighborhood and explained a lot about her religion.

I am waiting for the tour of the Light of the World Christian Academy, or St. Margaret's School.

I read on the AFA site about the video, and apparently it was stated, that they were the Moms and implied strongly that the kids had two Moms. I didn't see the video, but neither AFA nor the Secretary would have acted otherwise. Of that you may be sure.

I sent the letter. Thank you for sharing it with us. We, republicans or conservatives, must learn to do what the left does so well: Be more active, make noise, write tons of letters. Let's remember, WE WON THE ELECTION!... all we have to do now is. not to sit down on our laurels, but to follow through with action. I am trying to do that myself.
I know several conservatives. the "silent type," who simply don't do anything because they don't think it's the proper thing to do. We have to encourage people to be activists.

You are so right! Especially when it's as simple as a thank you letter for a worthy action taken!!

Feel free to alert anyone else you may know to do the same! I am always saying we have to do something, so when the chance comes along, I do.

Thanks for doing that!!

Has anyone seen Olberman pushing the Sponge Bob video, and interviewing "minister" saying it isn't about gay acceptance?? I am getting pretty sick of them working so hard trying to make the whole issue, silly, when we know better!!

Here's my bit

Dear Secretary Spellings, I appreciate your bold stand regarding the airing of "Postcards From Buster" episode.

PBS should not be used for pushing political/social agenda.

You have shown backbone - rare - in standing for the right against the madding crowd. But we have just seen, this Sunday, that holding steady in the whirlwind, reaps it's rewards in the end.

I thank you in the name of my 15 grandchildren.
