It sounds as dangerous as Iraqi checkpoints. Needless to say, Iraq is a war zone.

Zortman said it is not unusual for drug smugglers to create some kind of diversion.

"Diversion" my arse. How attempted murder.

A war zone. .....and one where we're getting our asses kicked bigtime.

....although the fault certainly doesn't lie with our skilled and brave Border Patrolmen.

It lies with our politicians who deny that there's a war to begin with.

We need to get some Marine snipers down there. If we can get a mini-war going down there, perhaps they will close the border at last.

You might want to consider spelling out "Border Patrol" in your titles in the future. Not everybody regularly discusses this issue, and my first impression of the title was that some enviro-wackos had shot at some British Petroleum agents.

That area just east of Douglas is flat evil. You can hear gunfire south of the border fence frequently. Considering Mexico's draconian gun control laws, that in itself is a strong indication that the Mexican government has zero control in this vicinity.

They've only come to shoot the Border Patrol Agents that Americans refuse to shoot.

I've said it before. If these scum will fire on US federal agents just imagine how they're treating US property owners along the border! The US military needs to occupy the border AND they need to give landowners army commo gear and training on use. That way eyes and ears are all along the border without wasting assets. The landowners should also get training on directing helicopter gunships onto potential targets. That way when border incursions occur on private property the US citizens aren't essentially out gunned and outmatched. Just key the switch and call in some air support!
