Bump. Good read.
And being vilified by the likes of Pelosi and Kennedy.
- because unlike almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake - literally everything.
Amen.
This is about a week old... was posted when it first came out here. Worth a re-read, though, it's a beautiful piece.
Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush... Even as it is uncovered that the loudest critics of the American action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, TENS of billions, in the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program.
I'm asking because this sentiment is wonderful but I hope it is not one of those email things.
He mentions "4 week vacations", whereas Germany has had 6 week vacations for many years now.
Good article. Would you please supply the link?
Appeasement...the true route to hell....
BRAVO!!! It's wonderful to see a European unafraid to tell the truth.
I missed this article the first time around, thanks for putting it up again. Very interesting read.

Yes, good read...
(maybe I don't have the "true" German original)
and someone with a better understanding(than I) of the German language should take another shot the translation...
...just look at the original and look where(if) Chamberlain is mentioned ...and a change from 300,000 to 500,000...
...this is not meant as an attack on the translator: I think the spirit of the original is captured very well!
bump
Bump for later...
'It is a conflict that will most likely last longer than any of the great military conflicts of the last century - a conflict conducted by an enemy that cannot be tamed by "tolerance" and "accommodation" but is actually spurred on by such gestures, which have proven to be, and will always be taken by the Islamists for signs of weakness. "
The linchpin of liberalism, here and abroad, is a basic misunderstanding of human nature. Their naive assumptions about good and evil enable the worst kind of behavior. It's always curious to me to see how they react with shock and irrationality whenever cold reality intrudes on them personally. Their "all moral ideas are equivalent" philosophy is grounded on selfishness, and they react bitterly whenever, and only whenever, their own personal well being is immediately threatened.
I think we'll see the leftwing Euros react harshly and disproprotionately when they have their own 9/11... without apology for all of their prior criticism of the US' restrained actions in the WOT, of course.
