DUBAI (Reuters) - A little-known Iraqi insurgent group said on Tuesday it was holding a U.S. soldier and threatened to kill him within 72 hours if Iraqi prisoners were not released, according to an Internet statement.
"Our mujahideen ... have managed to capture the American soldier John Adam after killing a number of his colleagues," said the Mujahideen Squadrons in the undated statement.
It carried a picture appearing to show a U.S. soldier sitting in front of a black banner with a rifle pointed at his head. The authenticity of the claim, which did not say where the man was seized, could not be verified.
"We will cut his throat in 72 hours if our male and female prisoners in the occupation jails are not released," it said.
A group using the same name, Mujahideen Squadrons, last month claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of a Brazilian engineer in Iraq (news - web sites).
Insurgents in Iraq, including al Qaeda's wing in Iraq, have been waging attacks on U.S.-led forces since they invaded the country in 2003.

Hard to tell nationality / services given qulity of image => if Jihadi nabbed someone, my beat would be it's an Iraqi from army or guard unit.

John Adams? Is that they best name they could come up with? I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the guy isn't American but somebody else dressed up in stolen clothing.
NP => talk in summer (if recall correctly) was that Jihadi's killed him. There was some grainy video from some Jihadi site showing someone being shot in back of head at night => no definitive proof either way, though, it was / wasn't Keith.
Only hope is that someone who involved in his capture / captivity will get caught and talk.

What is more likely to happen in the future is to implant all of our own military with tracking devices. Then when one is captured we can find them. I wish we could be a little more 007 with these guys. Actually I wish we could be a little more mafia with them, but the liberals would never allow the precious rights of murderers to be violated. If these were Christian psychos instead of Muslim ones the liberals would have already authorized the use of nukes.
I would like to think that we already do this in some form, but maybe not.

Tracking devices small enough to be implanted would have to be RFID devices. The problem with that is that the RFID has to pass within a few feet (less than 10) of a detector to work. Also, if I were in the military, there is no way in hell I would allow them to inject a tracking device under their skin.
