Welcome to the Internet Smile Factor.

Margaret Spellings was sworn in as the new Education Secretary.

President Bush welcomed the Detroit Pistons, NBA champions, in a ceremony at the White House today.

Bush named Dr. Jack Crouch II to be Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor. Dr. Crouch is U.S. Ambassador to Romania.

The president will give his State of the Union Address on Wednesday, February 2.

Joining Senators Kennedy and Kerry in the Political Fossil Corner, Gorbachev called the Iraq elections fake, and a profanation. Senator James McDermottt, D-WA ("Baghdad Jim") emitted similar frantic wailings.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island.

I enjoy Brit he has such a wonderful voice I don't know what it is about a man with a deep voice but there is something.

Yes, I like Brit a lot, too. I'll bet he's an interesting person just to chat with. He does have a fairly deep voice, but I've never found it as hypnotic as the voice of someone else we both know, LOL.

Franks: We make a mistake if we take a success (like the Iraqi election) and denigrate that success and say 'Well, it's really not that big a deal.'

I like the capsules because I don't have to taste the stuff that way.

It was interesting to hear Sean encourage Gen. Franks to run for office. Franks gives diplomatic answers usually. He's too smart to burn any bridges publically.

I recall when he was answering questions during pressers in Afghanistan and Iraq and how, when the press asked him nasty-toned questions, he was always polite and restrained in his response. Franks is a pro.

***We must not immediately rubbish everything that the left says if we do so in a way they have won because we have lowered ourselves to their level.***

Snugs, that's one of the most incredible things about Pres. Bush. He NEVER stoops to their level. Some on FR have gotten really annoyed with him for not talking back. But he was RIGHT! Class tells.

Two things I really like about Brit, W, and Cheney:

Supercalm demeanor
Quiet, soothing, pleasant voice

From reading Franks' autobio, I think he got that quiet diplomacy from his father, the man who adopted him. His father had a lot of jobs and they involved working with people and he had a quiet way of going the extra, extra mile to help others.

Hiya back.

I'm rejoicing in the Middle East shakedown of radical stupidity.

Absolutely I think on the whole "real" women respond to men like that better than up front ranting and raving so called ladies men.

I have family ( a mother and 8 children) killed in one of the camps.

I know that is something that will never leave you.
I have mentioned before on the dose about growing up
in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood here in San Diego
in the late 40s on. So many had numbers on their arm
from the camps. I heard so many awful stories, one
woman even in the 1970s would still cry about her and
her family in the camp.
My mom was a Shabbes Goy, for those in Rio Lindo that is
a gentile who may at times turn on a light or be the
middle person in a phone call as the Orthodox after sundown
Fri do not turn on a light switch, use a car, etc.
All would walk to synagogue, I would also see some Hasidic.
In 1983 I saw Buckenwald in East Germany. My Great
Uncle was one of those who liberated it.
I was also in the Ann Frank house in Amsterdam. A place everyone should visit.

The job is still good, thanks for asking :) I like to watch all the little kids. Had a problem with one of them yesterday. He wasn't quite understanding the concept that you have to pay for things.

Re: Miss Beasley

She loves the attention, (good times were had by all) I guess most puppies do.

We saw Barney out the window on the South Lawn with his Volley ball.

I think, some lucky people on the tour, with good timing, get to pet and see the dogs, it was a special treat for us.
