Chief Senate Dem to request Iraq exit plan

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a pre-State of the Union challenge to President Bush, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid intends to call Monday for the administration to outline an exit strategy for Iraq. Reid plans to raise the issue as part of back-to-back speeches in which he and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi will sketch outline their differences with Bush on two issues likely to dominate Congress' work this year, the war on terror and Social Security.

"The president needs to spell out a real and understandable plan for the unfinished work ahead: defeat the growing insurgency, rebuild Iraq, increase political participation by all parties, especially moderates, and increase international involvement," Reid will say, according to his prepared remarks.

"Most of all we need an exit strategy so we know what victory is and how we can get there; so that we know what we need to do and so that we know when the job is done." Apart from Iraq, the Nevada senator's prepared remarks include a broader criticism of Bush's foreign policy, and accuse the president's actions of falling short of the words he used in his Inaugural Address earlier this month.

Bush has called on Congress to enact legislation that will make the program permanently solvent financially, while including an option for younger workers to establish personal accounts.

The President has already made the exit plan crystal clear:
Victory.

That sends a powerful message to all the right people, but the Dems aren't listening.

If Senator Reid were not as ignorant as a bag of hammers, if he had ever read or understood the history of Germany AFTER World War II, he would already know the "exit strategy." It is to defeat the forces arrayed against us, and assist the nation of Iraq in rising from the chains of its dictatorship into a free and prosperous nation under a legitimate government.

Anyone who is honest and has paid attention to our history would know this. Reid is dishonest, and has been since he was first elected to the Senate. His ignorance is equally well established. He is hopeless, and expects others to join him in his ignorance and duplicity.

The only saving grace is that he lacks the skills of his predecessor, Li'l Tommy Daschle. Remember him? He used to be both Majority and Minority Leader of the Senate. It was in all the papers.

The democrats don't give a rat's ass about an "exit plan"> They are so transparent and ridiculously empty of ideas where President Bush is concerned.

They dream of having an "exit plan" spread out before them in black and white, so when uncontrollable future events contradict the "plan", they can rub the President's nose in it.

When will they ever believe that President Bush is way too smart to fall for their crap-traps. And when will they ever understand how hysterically ignorant they look in the process?

"There is a gap between saying to reformers that the 'United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors,' and an administration that stands by in virtual silence as Saudi dissidents disappear," one portion of Reid's speech says.

Say, remember Terry Moran's out of left field question earlier in the week?

At President Bush's press conference yesterday, ABC News (search) reporter Terry Moran (search) described the case of a Jordanian activist, Ali Hattar, who Moran said had been arrested and charged with slander for promoting a boycott of U.S. goods. Moran called it an "abuse of human rights," and invited the President to condemn it, saying, "If you won't, sir, then what ... do your fine words [about freedom] mean?"

President Bush said he was unaware of the case. He was in good company. The Hattar case appears never to have been mentioned by any news outlet in the U.S., including Moran's own network, that is, until Moran asked his question.

I think we may now know where that line of questioning might have come from...

"Most of all we need an exit strategy so we know what victory is and how we can get there; so that we know what we need to do and so that we know when the job is done."

It is convenient that the dems are too stupid to know what victory looks like and how to acheive it. It keeps them from sabotaging everything we're doing to make the world a safer place.

I know hammers. I've used hammers. Hammers are friends of mine. Senator Reid is MUCH more ignorant than a bag of hammers.
I believe a retraction and an apology are in order.

Senator Reid I respectfully but emphatically disagree. One, the War on Terror hasn't any exit strategy until the last terrorist is dead. Comprendez?

Two, why telegraph to the terrorists America's strategy, period?

Freakin' democrats are all going to get us into a big heap of trouble with this sort of nonsense. Such nicompoopery.

I'm beginning to see the Democrat Party's strategy...
They are attempting to start a civil war here, or become extinct...

Extinct works for me.....but an opportunity to start firing back at them sounds good too..
