True patriotism.

This kid gets it unlike so many other folks in our country.

He's paid the cost of freedom. This is also something the folks here in the US forget. Freedom is NEVER free.

We enjoy our freedoms because people like this soldier are willing to sacrifice themselves for our freedom. God bless this soldier and God bless every soldier on earth!

Is the Purple Heart warn as a ribbon?

Sort of reminds me of one day at USMC Camp Pendleton, where I was stationed from 1966 - 1968....I passed by a young guy who had this ribbon on his chest:

He's a Marine, that's how Marines behave. He is one of those the Iraqis can thank for this incredible day of freedom in their country. Anyone who thinks this Marine's sacrifice was in vain can stick it where the sun don't shine.

How is it possible he can look like he is at attention, sitting in a wheel chair? Amazing.

Did you render the proper salute to the hero wearing it?

Thanks Michael, and all, for the education.

Incredible what warriors we have in this country.

Even if the Marine was a Corporal a salute should have been given.

The Medal Of Honor is always saluted.

To echo the comments of a reporter, at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom: "Where do they find these men?"

Indeed, where are such men found?

True men to be admired and gazed upon with awe and respect.

Semper fi!

Could not let this picture and this Marine go unnoticed.

When you see something like this your chest gets a little bigger.

I'm a Veteran (77-81 in US Army). I am now grandmother of 4
children. Are you saying I should still salute?

A salute is never improper if rendered with respect and appreciation. I would consider saluting someone wearing the that particular ribbon/medal my duty and privilege.

I'd suggest cutting the legs off a "peace" leftist to give to him, but I don't think he'd want a pair that ran. God bless this fine soldier, and a nation like ours that has such heroes.

Thank you Michael121 for that most touching photograph. Not only do our hearts break for this young man and his sacrifice... but our hearts swell to see him raise his hand in a salute to his Commander-in-Chief because this Marine knows what he sacrificed and knows it was for freedom. The photo of the woman behind him crying also speaks volumes. The photo should win a prize also. Thank you, thank you.
