Fire Equipment Stolen from Fire Engine: (Portland, OR - 3/1/05)

[World News]: PORTLAND, Ore.,, March 1 : The Portland Fire Department would like the thieves who stole some $10,000 in firefighting equipment from a fire engine to return the items.

"Pawn shops aren't going to touch this stuff," said Lt. Allen Oswalt, a Portland Fire Bureau spokesman."But we would like to get it back."

Among the items taken were: a high-tech thermal-imaging camera, protective clothing, a helmet, an air pack and a flashlight.However, the thermal-imaging camera -- used by firefighters to see through heavy smoke to locate people trapped inside buildings and valued at $8,000 -- is useless without the charger that was bolted to the fire truck, reported the Portland Oregonian.

The equipment was taken from the fire truck while four firefighters were answering an emergency call and inside a nursing home for 15 minutes early Sunday morning.

"We've just never had it happen before," said Oswalt. Fire engines have no locks.

Thieves Take DEA Trailer in Seminole County (Lake Mary, FLA - 3/2/05)

LAKE MARY, Fla. - A Drug Enforcement Administration trailer containing drug scene investigative equipment was stolen overnight, Seminole County authorities said Tuesday.

The 20-foot white trailer was stolen late Monday or early Tuesday outside offices leased by the federal agency.

The items this thief took is worrisome, what does he have planned for this stuff? If he can steal all this, then stealing a charger shouldn't be to difficult for him .

Interesting links you posted showing all those medical/emergency vehicles/equipment stolen within the last 2-3 days. Very eerie these happenings in CA, WA, FLA, OR and MI, sort of outlining the country.
