"the thermal-imaging camera -- used by firefighters to see through heavy smoke to locate people trapped inside buildings and valued at $8,000 -- is useless without the charger"

The items this thief took is worrisome, what does he have planned for this stuff? If he can steal all this, then stealing a charger shouldn't be to difficult for him .

Regarding thermal imaging camera and the other stolen items...alone these thefts in the past two days seem innocuous...but together in different parts of the country it seems very strange. It is not like they could re-sell this item. When I first read the title I thought that maybe metal parts of the fire-engine had been taken for the theives to sell as scrap...I was glad I read further. Also the last sentence the dopey guy being interviewed states that the fire trucks are rarely ever locked....wow thanks for that info.
