It is now 3 am in Iraq the polls will be opening in the next few hours as the world watches and hold's it breath. Iraq is about to undertake a historic vote.
Lets wish them well....... please post all comments and election photos to this thread.
Good job!!!
Best comment I heard Geraldo say "the terrorists can go to hell!", and another one was "This day is Iraq's 1776"
If anybody happens to find any pictures on blogs, or any pictures that are royalty-free, let me know. I would like to put some on the college newspaper website.
But, we do not get the AP wire, so we can't just rip a picture from them and run it...could get sued.
Thanks ;)
"You know what's even cooler?... that so many FReepers are up this late watching the fledgling democracy in Iraq that our troops brought to pass..."
LOL, Yep, me way past my bedtime, last time I was up this late was our own elections. But it's so exciting, historic, like a mirror of our own fight for liberty, how can anyone sleep.
oh? How do you feel about Geraldo?
ROFLOL!
I heard it from a reporter on CNN. I know, maybe not the best source, but I don't have any other news channels.
;)
Fox News just pissed me off... they have a "Bloody Election" graphic. Fox News has enemies within the gate.
This Historic event helps our security at home!
I heard the same report he did. I believe I was also watching CNN.
I know, I feel it. Friday morning I held and consoled my 18 month old grandson while we watched his father board the bus to be driven to the plane along with his fellow comrades to be deployed to Iraq for the second time.
The 18 month old was doing just great until the military buses started to pull out and it was as if he knew that he would not see his dad for a while.
But as you posted, their kids will be very, very proud of them.

These are bloggers based in Iraq. I haven't seen any pics yet of voters but they have some other great pictures related to the election. I'm sure they'd love to see them published elsewhere. No worries.
I went to sleep on time. That lasted about 30 minutes. I got back up and decided to check into the live thread and even watched TV, which I rarely do. That was about 3 hours ago. I haven't been so keyed up since our own election.
I hope there is some way to communicate the interest in this to our troops over there, and to the Iraqis in general. All this 'it's all about oil' nonsense is shown to be a lie by this thread. Nobody here is even talking about oil. It's all about freedom and defeating terror.
"Hey, freedomguy-up yours!"
Those who would use helpless children like that are not human beings.
