Pride week on campus is not just for homosexuals anymore.
A group of College Republicans at the University of Central Oklahoma is gearing up for what it calls "Straight Pride Week."
"The general gist is that if you are a straight student on campus be proud, be loud, this is your time to shine," College Republican Kyle Houts told KOCO-TV.
Already posted around the Edmond, Okla., campus are fliers reading, "We're here, we're conservative, we're out."
University officials have granted permission for the fliers, but they say it's not an endorsement of the message.
Members of the Gay Alliance for Tolerance and Equality told the station they consider the celebration an assault on homosexual students.
"What is there to say about it, 'I'm proud, and I'm straight and I guess white,' I don't know?" said GATE member Jennifer Rodriguez. "I think they definitely are being discriminatory because there's probably a lot of gay Republicans out there."
A KOCO online poll asks how people feel about the College Republicans' "Straight Pride Week" celebrations.
With more than 9,600 votes yesterday afternoon, 54 percent said "Good for them," 22 percent stated, "Neither 'Gay Pride Week' nor 'Straight Pride Week' should be observed," 18 percent said, "I don't mind it because it just makes it them look bad," and 5 percent responded, "They are being discriminatory."
Its amazing isn't it? If one doesn't agree 100% with these sodomites then one is "assaulting" them.
On the other hand, if the homosexuals don't agree with the straight people that's ok.
Hypocrisy is amazing isn't it?
"...22 percent stated, "Neither 'Gay Pride Week' nor 'Straight Pride Week' should be observed,""
I agree with the above statement. If one wants to be a (disgusting) sodomite, keep it to one's self. If one is a (normal) straight individual, the same goes.
:-)
A couple points that is is amazing to even have to address.
1) Discrimination is NOT inherently bad. Choosing to eat healthy food rather than junk food is discrimination. Choosing to pay for a store item rather than put it in your pocket is discrimination. Discrimination means "to choose between various alternatives". These guys have turned it, like the word "gay" into a bad word.
2) The implication of using the word "Discrimination" is clearly linked to racial discrimination and thus they are trying to suggest that someone choosing to believe homosexuality is a disgusting sexual behavior is tantamount to a racist.
Race is an inherent condition. There is 0% debate over that fact. Homosexual behavior, on the other hand, is 100% a chosen behavior.
One can argue as to whether people are born with the tendency toward it, although there is ZERO data to support that theory, but it is indisputable that they CHOOSE to behave that way.
Unless they want to extend the belief that we are animals incapable of controlling our urges..at that point, murder, rape, etc.. would have to be condoned since they are often the outcome of a physiological urge driven by anger.
So I have to credit these folks with their PR skills. They know how to turn an argument by using language in a way that makes their competitors defensive. We should try that.
Finally. I'm glad somebody finally had the courage to do something like this.
That might be the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard in my life.
I have three sons one in college one going next year and another will be a victim of the public school system for 2 more years....yes I have concerns because who wants to hire white straight males....going to forward this article to my son @ Purdue he and his buddies can start the same thing....
The soddies don't realize that the dreaded anti-soddie theocracy they fear so much could soon be a reality, largely due TO THEIR OWN STUPIDITY AND SHORTSGHTED-NESS. Push themselves right off a ****ing cliff for all I care!
Actually I was thinking about promoting something I call "Queer Shame Week" here in Houston
Key line in article:
"University officials have granted permission for the fliers"
Makes me want to print fliers without permission. What a bunch of socialist nazis.
Let that slogan ring out in all of our liberal colleges and universities! Conservative or gay or straight, we've been intimidated far too long! It is wonderful...sending to all!
I went to Purdue in the mid-70's when they had "Wear Your Blue Jean Days" to show your support for homosexuals. They had ads in the school newspaper to promote it. At this time it didn't go over to well. To counter it, others put in ads, such as "Wear your blue jeans and tease the queers." or "Bag a Fag - No limit." People were upset that the homosexuals were doing this and to wear jeans that day meant your support for them. They weren't supported. Don't know if it has changed by now.
I know it must pain you greatly, Jennifer, but not all homosexuals believe in your radical activist agenda. Some are rational enough to accept that you have been recognized as having equal protection under the law by way of anti-discrimination laws and they are not seeking to capitalize on that for special privileges. Get a life!
So true.
I'm really encouraged to hear that students are starting to find this ridiculous homo drivel too much to endure.
It really is time for the silent majority to speak...in no uncertain terms, against the illogical, unnatural, activities and propaganda of these lost people.
You just gotta love these College Republicans.
I hope they marched under a solid color banner to.
This is great !!!
'Course, don't know if Disney has any straight employees or administrators anymore-so I suppose this will never happen!
And, actually I don't want it to happen-always thought bringing 'sexual preference' to a childrens' theme park sucked, hugely. And still do.
HOMOSEXUALS ARE BIG INTO ROBBING KIDS OF THEIR CHILDHOODS. They aren't pushing tolerance-they are pushing recruitment.
