Rick Dembow January 28, 2005 -- A stunning 28-year-old actress died in her fiancé's arms yesterday after a Lower East Side thug answered her challenge "What are you going to do, shoot us?" by firing a single bullet into her chest, cops said. Nicole DuFresne, of Brooklyn, had just left a trendy bar with her fiancé and another couple when they were confronted at about 3:15 a.m. by four muggers two men and two women at the corner of Clinton and Rivington streets, police said. One of the thugs, who was carrying a gun, demanded money. DuFresne's fiancé, Jeffrey Sparks, 28, not seeing the mugger had a gun and not taking the request seriously, tried to push past the man.

My daughter and son in law live in Northern Virginia. He got a carry permit last year...
3:15 a.m. by four muggers
Why I never stay out past midnight any more. The ghouls and freaks are night crawlers. 3am, unarmed, alone is just looking for trouble especially in the biggest cities over flowing with lunatics.
NYC - Where law abiding citizens are unarmed victims...
Yep, and locks only keep the HONEST people out.
This girl deserves a Darwin Award.
Not to mention why they were walking in such cold weather..it must have been around 5 degrees outside

Nicole duFresne, aspiring actress shot to death early yesterday on lower East Side by gun-toting robber.
A young actress died staring into the eyes of her fiancé after a gun-toting robber blasted her in the chest early yesterday in a trendy section of the lower East Side.
"I turned and saw her on her back on the sidewalk," Jeffrey Sparks said of his beloved 28-year-old girlfriend, Nicole duFresne.
"I took her in my arms and begged her to hold on," Sparks, 29, told the Daily News.
DuFresne was breathing, but she couldn't speak.
Then she let go.
"She died in my arms," Sparks said, his face still bloodied from being pistol-whipped by the teenage killer.
And your point is?
"What are you going to do, shoot us?"
The world is more like a prison yard than a school yard. For those who are young here is some advice about life.
1. If they have a gun shut your mouth.
2. Don't make eye contact..this goes for wild animals.
3. BE NICE!
4. And in the corporate world remember..the a$$ you diss today may be producing the crap you have to eat later.
Very sad. Another reason for owning a gun. These thugs might have killed her, or somebody, anyway.
..but his Momma will swear he is a good boy with a kind heart...and straight A's in school....
The Sullivan law has been part and parcel of New Jerk City for a long, long time and certainly predates Rudy Guiliani. It, and the other silly laws that have been passed for "gun control" in the cesspool have not worked, nor shall they.
It is my personal opinion that Guiliani is a RINO and I do not, would not support him for POTUS, even if he changed his public views on certain topics.
He is, however, a good foil to that nasty hog, Swillary and I will support him in any effort to run against her. He'll never win against her, but it would really p' her off and that is a good thing under any circumstances.
Guiliani or Bloominass, even the little Napolean Dinkins, makes no difference who the mayor is, until the citizens of the city have the right to carry and to protect themselves from vermin such as the ones in the story, they will continue to rob and kill as they please.
Juggling the crime stats around to make the public think that crime is down is a political ploy, one that Guiliani was particularly good at, having learned much while in the employ of the feds chasing down the mafia types.
Lies abound in that particular pursuit and the quicker the players learn to tell them, the more they become the darling of the media and the people that are most affected continue to be fooled.
But you're right, there are some that are "goopy-eyed" about Guiliani for POTUS, much the same crowd that are all agog over Ahnuld and would advocate a Constitutional Amendment to allow him to run for POTUS.
I don't support that either.

Witnesses told cops the shooter was black, slim, about 5-feet-8, wearing a parka and a scarf.
I agree - money isn't worth killing (or dying) over - but there are a lot of posters who disagree.
My point is that she was a member of those organizations.
I just hope the perp is dumb enough to keep the weapon so they can match the ballistics when they catch him. She prolly had booze courage added to her lefty beliefs about criminals not really being bad sorts...cost her her life.
I knew that you were being sarcastic...
Liberals really don't get it do they.
"Booze has a knack of making otherwise smart people say stupid things."
I am sorry for her and her family, but just looking at the links she posted on her web site,
I doubt that she was very bright to begin with.
You missed my point: I know very well about the Sullivan Law, but I HAD A LEGAL CARRY PERMIT in NYC until Giuliani took it away for no reason.
