Workers Claim Warehouse Is Storage Facility
POSTED: 2:44 pm EST January 27, 2005 UPDATED: 2:57 pm EST January 27, 2005
Police break up a suspected chop shop that was allegedly being run by an employee of the city of Detroit.
The city lighting department worker used a warehouse on Detroit's east side to store stolen vehicles and construction equipment, police said.
Authorities towed away several vehicles, including "Seven stolen cars or vans (and) two Bobcats," said an undercover Detroit police officer.
A tipster notified police of the illegal operation believed to be taking place at the warehouse in the 6500 block of Strong Street, near Interstate 94 and Mt. Elliot, Local 4 reported.

I'll bet several convictions on his background check for city employment were conveniently overlooked.
My family left Detroit in 1969 when I was 15 shortly after the race riots. The slide into chaos had begun some time earlier, yet I still have fond memories of a once vibrant city. Today it is a grim, poor, depressed, crime ridden shadow of itself.
Detroit is a reminder that civilization does not have to go forward. It can regress.
Detroit - another lovely Democrat stronghold. Would anyone be surprised if we find out that this "city worker" (now there are 2 words that don't belong on the same page) is some relative of the mayor? That would be about normal.
It would be poetic justice if the Lincoln Navigator the mayor leased (with city money) for his family ended up in his employee's "shop".
Where are the turkeys?
