The U.S. Model: For years, much of the world did aspire to the American way of life. But today countries are finding more appealing systems in their own backyards.
Not long ago, the American dream was a global fantasy. Not only Americans saw themselves as a beacon unto nations. So did much of the rest of the world. East Europeans tuned into Radio Free Europe. Chinese students erected a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Tiananmen Square.

I don't think I've seen that many factual errors in a single article in my lifetime. Yet, this is a good example of the mythology pushed by the liberal media worldwide.
Now that just sounds like a Ratherism. LOL
Don't forget your lovely parting gift
No thanks. I'm English.

DRAT, and DOUBLE DRAT!
Please put me on the zot ping list, thank you.
I'm kind of guessing that they wouldn't have had the opportunity to choose ANY system without our help.
Here's a good example. While the claim could be factually correct, this recent event was heavily dependent upon another factor -- namely, the US victory in the 45 year long Cold War, which Europeans largely opposed. Without the sustained effort of the US, none of this would have been possible. So, once again, the author's factual omissions speak volumes, since they fail to put the European claims in context.
As another example, consider his claims about economic growth outside of the US in the past five decades. Again, while factually true, the reason for the growth rate is obvious; WWII destroyed much of Europe and Asia, and the rebuilding of Europe -- financed by the US -- was a singular growth event. It's easy to acheive high growth rates when you're starting from the bottom.
All these dreary little backwaters should then be removed from the American life support system. They wouldn't last out the year.
Another thought is that we should calculate foreign aid to these countries based on the results of the BBC polls/MSM bias. Egypt hates us very badly = 0 dollars. Serbia hates us somewhat badly = 1/2 dollars, etc.
"...World Health Organization rates the U.S. healthcare system only 37th best in the world, behind Colombia (22nd) and Saudi Arabia (26th), and on a par with Cuba."
How the heck can they get away with this outright lie?
I think I got in before the zot....

I don't know which are more amusing, the new signees who post articles believing we'll be overwhelmed at the superior progressive intellect and abandon conservatism, or the ones who merely launch into an unintelligible tirade.
