I do not have a link as of yet. But it seems that a UAW type, went postal in the Jeep Plant in North Toledo OH. 3 shot not including shooter, 2 dead including the shooter. There is also a rumor of a bomb in the shooters coat. He was going to get "displined" for something, what it was they [the police] are not saying as of yet.

Gunman Shoots 3, Kills Self at Ohio Plant
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=718&e=4&u=/ap/20050127/ap_on_re_us/plant_shooting
TOLEDO, Ohio - An employee of a Jeep production plant wounded three workers with a double-barrel shotgun Wednesday before killing himself, police said.
Police said that when the shooter walked into the plant he was yelling and demanding that some of the body shop's supervisors come to the office area. Authorities did not know if any of the victims were supervisors.
The shooting happened in the plant's body shop office about 8:45 p.m., police Chief Mike Navarre said.
One victim was shot in the chest and was in critical condition. Two others were less seriously injured, including one worker who was shot in the arm.
Navarre did not release the victims' names. The unidentified gunman shot himself in the head, he said.
The gunman had been disciplined recently, Navarre said, but he would not elaborate.
His body was found in the office where the others were shot. Police called in a bomb squad because they noticed wires coming out from under the gunman's coat. Navarre said he didn't know what the wires were, "but we're not taking any chances."

And people wonder why I don't like unions. Now that's just stupid, really. Do you think something like this can only happen in a unionized workplace? Well, think (if you can) again.
There may be reasons to dislike unions, but you can't find one in this story.

Well put.
I am retired and worked for G.M. for 30 years and was represented by the U.A.W.
I worked with the good ,the bad & the ugly.
There were Christians and athiests just like the rest of society. No better ...no worse.
It is elitist and it isn't fair and we should be more open minded then to suggest that union's are from the gutter.
There are liberals and there are conservatives in unions just like there are liberals and conservatives in our government.I hope we don't say our country is trash because there are misguided liberals.
As union workers we pay our share of taxes and have the same dreams and aspirations of a better community for our children.
Many union represented people have fought in our wars to protect our rights.
Some of us have in fact been wounded like my father who was shot durring World War two and eventually died from his injuries.
And yes,he was a blue collar shop worker who was represented by the U.A.W.
My family has always been God fearing, pro-life ,pro-family and strong conservative.
I also see that our American based multi nationals are racing to ship our jobs offshore to exploited foreign workers paid shamefully low wages and then used as unfair competitive examples of how American workers are overpaid and under worked. I support the right of Americans to protect themselves.
Like the "Mike Westfall Papers" say on the web, "if America's workers gave back every benefit ever negotiated and 90 % of their wages they may starve in Detriot or Pittsburgh but they would still be uncompetitive to one of G.M.'s miquiladora workers south of America's border."
That is why they are jumping the border to come here.
Respectfully, thinking people need to look at the big picture before they make blanket statements condeming a segment of our society that is so important to our nation.

There are liberals and there are conservatives in unions The problem is that there are no conservatives in union leadership. The rest of us see unions are part of the democrat party, marching in lockstep like zombies to vote for whichever rat candidate the union steward tells them to.
Did I say zombie?
Once a union endorses only conservative candidates consistently I'll believe they are more then just a communist front. But looking at the main unions today, NEA etc. that's extremely unlikely
(On the religious side, unions are thoroughly anti-biblical. They deprive the owner of his right to do what he wants with his property. Purely bold faced theft)

I used to work at the gm plant in Wentzville MO. [in house security] I never saw a bigger group of goof offs, and free loaders in all of my life. We had drugs, gambling, and all of the other vices going on in there. Did the union do anything to help clean up that place.... HECK NO! All they did was file grievances and complaints against the security staff for doing our jobs. Then when gm went to a contract security company did the unions do anything again.... HECK NO! As far as I am concerned they need to be busted up, and done away with. These people do not need any more protection for their jobs when all they are, over paid, too many benefits, pampered ect...
This guy got into trouble for something and went off killing his supervisor, tried to kill 2 others then he did have the good sense to do himself in. [saved the taxpayer some money!]

I certainly appreciate your opinion and agree with you on union leadership usually endorsing Democrats.
I ,as well as many others ,won't participate in PAC or political action committies because of this.
Union members ,like other Americans, will not vote against our moral beliefs.
President Bush could not have won if not for American workers voting their conscience.
The Democratic leadership has shown a callous disrespect for human life because of their support for abortion. They have shown disrespect for marriage and we all must fight for the marriage amendment.
Another organization which I participate in is the AFA or American family Association and I help there where I can.
So while I maintain that we as Americans have the right to organize I certainly agree with you on this point.

Drugs and gambling are a real problem and a reflection on our society as a whole. Drugs are in every town and every arena of American life.
Look at how our local governments lobby to get new casinos so we can ...gamble.
Am I for this? No
Do I like to see drugs in the plants which produce Americas goods ?...No.Not in our plants or with the kids that have never worked either.
In Flint many years ago I recall a series of G.M. plant drug stings which made the headlines .
Many workers using drugs were fired and some went to jail.
The sting was jointly instigated by the U.A.W. and G.M. management.
In 30 years at G.M. I personally didn't see many drug problems but I know as well as you that drugs are everywhere today be it hard drugs or the booze which has permeated our entire society for so long.
As far as connecting the thug that killed his supervisor with other workers I think that is a real stretch. It is more likely that his co-workers were heading for the doors to protect themselves from this "nut"

In all seriousness, I just wanted to state the fact that I hate unions. This thread gave me a good excuse.
And no, I do not think this was a "union sanctioned" killing.
