BISHOPS IN FLORIDA AND ACROSS U.S. URGED TO INTERVENE TO SAVE THE LIFE OF SCHIAVO
By Michael H. Brown
This is a plea to the American bishops: SAVE TERRI SCHIAVO. I don't mean to sound so shrill -- but it is now an emergency situation.
Earlier this week the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene in the legal battle between her husband, who wants to take away her life support, and her parents, the Schindlers, who are valiantly fighting to save their daughter -- and so desperate they are pleading for her "husband" to simply divorce her and hand her over to their care.

In the name of Jesus' final suffering on the cross, please write to your diocesan bishop and ask for his intercession on Terri's behalf. Ask him to publicly condemn in the strongest terms Terri's impending death by one of the most cruel means possible - the withholding of food and water.
Ask him to join with other bishops and the USCCB to make this defense of life very strong and very public.
Terri needs you now! Write to your bishop!
Thank you so much.

I totally support the cause of saving Terri's life, so I hate to be critical.
But we have to learn to stop using the Left's Orwellian language that has been so successful in deceiving the public about Terri's condition.
I.e., we should NOT use the term "life support," but instead "food and water." The above phrase should read:
food and water--the MOST BASIC LIFE SUPPORT.
Seems like a time for massive sit ins to save her life...
May the Lord forgive me, but if that was my little girl in that situation, I would kill the husband and then be glad to go to prison in order to save her life. Perhaps God would condemn me for premeditated murder, but I simply could not let it go down this way.
Perhaps my personal relationship with Christ is lacking, but as Peter denied him three times and stood back up again, I would beg His mercy and save my child.
Prayers for Terri.
Very good idea.
I wish the Florida bishops (particularly in her diocese) would get a little more active. They have been a disgrace, for the most part, with their silence or ambiguous words.
Dear Reverend _______________:
I am writing to ask for your intercession on behalf of Mrs. Terri Schiavo, a severely brain-disabled woman whose husband is seeking her death by dehydration and starvation, through the Florida courts.
One of Jesus' final words on the Cross was "I thirst" (John19:28). I have tried to go without water for a time to see what kind of suffering that would be. I have found that thirst is much harder to endure than hunger.
Mrs. Schiavo has already been subject to the withholding of food and water, twice. The second time, in October of 2003, she went for 6 days before food and water were restored to her.
I urge you to help defend Mrs. Schiavo's life. Your public condemnation of efforts to deny her food and water would be very helpful. Also, in conjunction with the other Bishops of the U.S., your public support of her right to practice her Catholic Faith, which holds that food and water are part of ordinary care, would be a strong statement of our Catholic duty to cherish life as a gift from God.
Also, I ask you to please remember Mrs. Schiavo during your offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, for the intention of bringing Mrs. Schiavo into the care of her brother, sister, and parents, to live out her natural life.
Because Mrs. Schiavo's legal options are vanishing, I beg you to act now. Thank you so much for your consideration.
Sincerely
firerosemom
Since the husband is in the act of attempting to kill his wife, I don't call it murder. It is using lethal force to save a life.
same here..
Life in prison or death penalty to save life of my son?
no sweat.. no second thoughts.
There is a big difference. If Terri were "brain dead"--which she emphatically is not--then it would be legitimate to take her off a mechanical ventilator. But food and water are not considered to be extreme or unusual measures to keep someone alive.
Especially since Michael Schiavo has been trying to cover up the likelihood that she can eat some foods and liquids without a feeding tube. That's why he sent in a police officer to prevent her from receiving Holy Communion from a visiting priest.
It's possible that, had her husband allowed it, she would no longer need the feeding tube. But he has refused to permit any kind of rehabilitative therapy, despite having collected millions of dollars for precisely that purpose.
Regretably, he wants to kill her.

So the pro-death media purposely uses that term to mislead the public into thinking that Terri is in that condition. They have been successful: Polls in Florida last year showed a majority say Terri should be "allowed to die" by being removed from "life support."
If the media called Terri's "life support" what it is -- mere food and water-- I believe polls would show that people do NOT support "terminating" that support. I.e., starving and dehydrating Terri.
