(CNSNews.com) - Democrats' treatment of Dr. Condoleezza Rice is drawing criticism from black conservatives - and even some black Democrats.
The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, a conservative group, called the Tuesday's attacks "vicious" and outrageous.
"[Democrats'] efforts to block a qualified nominee who would be the first black female Secretary of State is a slap in the face to all black Americans," Peterson said in a statement.
"Throughout the confirmation process, ex-Klansman Senator Robert Byrd, as well as Senators Edward Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, John Kerry, and others have tried to demean Dr. Rice by accusing her of lying and of being incompetent. Republicans have done little to counter this attack," he said.
Peterson has long argued that liberal Democrats are racist toward blacks: "Liberals believe that blacks should all think and vote the same," he said. "And they loathe any free-thinking black who dares to walk off their plantation."
In his statement, Peterson noted that "Sen. Robert Byrd is a former Ku Klux Klan recruiter who has recently used the word 'nigger" twice on national television. Byrd helped filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and also opposed the nominations of both black candidates for the Supreme Court -- liberal Thurgood Marshall and conservative Clarence Thomas."
BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, describes its mission as "Rebuilding the Family by Rebuilding the Man." It offers programs and services to help men help their families.
Black Democrats expressing support for Rice included Andrew Young, the former Atlanta mayor, congressman and United Nations ambassador in the Carter administration.
"Condoleeezza Rice not only deserves the support, but the country needs a strong, wise secretary of state with a bipartisan mandate to help establish democracy not only in Iraq but around the world," Young said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Young also suggested that the nation is not well served by having Democrats chip away at Dr. Rice's integrity just as she is about to take her place on the world stage.
The Dem's are throwing everything they have at Condoleezza Rice, and the only thing they have accomplished is stating the obvious fact that Condoleezza Rice has faced and beaten tougher opponents than them! GO CONDOLEEZZA!
I was just amazed and very PLEASED when I saw Andrew Young come out so publicly in support of Dr. Rice. I hope black voters take note of that.
"everytime they send the attack dogs, like Jackson, Sharpton and Lee out, we should point out that they are nothing more than house negros for the Democrat party."
I disagree. Jackson, Sharpton and Lee go out because they want to...not because anyone is sending them. To blame just the Democratic party takes away from the damage these three morons have inflicted.
Predictions:
1) Andrew Young and the rest of these liberal spokespersons will be back 'on the plantation' tomorrow.
2) The MSM will continue to ignore the obvious story of liberal Democrat racists voting and ranting against the appointment of highly qualified black, hispanic, female, minority conservatives.
3) The Republicans will NOT defend their own.
4) Republicans will neither respond to nor draw attention to the hypocisy, racism, and duplicity of their 'respected Democrat colleagues' - remember how Republicans ignored the collusion between Democrat Congressmen and liberal front groups to block minority appointments (see WSJ editorial from 1/25).
I hope that Black folks who blindy support the Democrats are paying close attention to what that party is doing to our sister up there. It is an insult the have Boxer and that old Klucker, Byrd, question Dr. Rice's integrity. They are not good enough for her to wipe her feet on. Which she will be doing shortly.... I am proud of Dr. Rice, she is an inspiration to all of us and we (Black People!) should be supporting her more vehemently!
Didn't I see Andrew Young, hardly a conservative, attacking the Boxer/Kennedy/Dayton group for its attack on Condi? And there was a woman with Young whoo was really incensed!
Do you know who the woman was?
I would imagine that Black women, in particular, are unhappy with what they see in the Senate 'Rat attack on Condi.
No, but she was mad!
I am disgusted with the GOP's silence. Just as during the campaigning last year and the mud was flying against Pres Bush, they stayed hunkered down. I want Boxer's words of the last 8 years thrown back in her face. One line of reasoning is that if the Republicans attack these pigs who are spewing their vile @ Dr Rice is that it might serve to unite the demos and we supposedly need a few of them.(another run-on sentence) Never mind that Boxer and Dayton were certifiably nuts even before this.

From this morning's Palm Beach Post:
He was joined by C. Delores Tucker, founder of the National Congress of Black Women, who accused the Democrats of "doing this Monday-morning quarterback" of reviewing Rice's role in the president's decision to invade Iraq."We just are here to support her and let her know that we're with her, and we don't like what is being done," Tucker said. "And further, it certainly diminishes what she could do overseas."
Tucker is a conservative, who has made stands against music with raunchy lyrics, and other causes in the past.

Correction: A slap in the face to all Americans.
"The nation is not well served by having Democrats chip away at Dr. Rice's integrity just as she is about to take her place on the world stage."
Of course. But that's the problem. The Democrats have no integrity. In fact, they don't even know what it is. In fact, they're baffled by the meaning of "moral values".
Dr. Rice is a towering presence and a brilliant woman. Her continual rise on the world stage will not be impaired by these low-life vermin. She's dispatched such many times before. Her sheer presence reveals them for what they are.

Yes. Imagine '08, with Condi Rice winning the Presidency in a contest with Hillary. I'd love to see it.
The big problem I have with this is..............someone is bringing her color into issue and not just her skills. Even the black community brings this up.
Why must race be brought up in everything? Whatever happened to King's ideals for "not judging by the color of their skin but by the content of their character?"
"Rise up you women that are at ease; hear my voice, you careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
Many days and years shall you be troubled, you careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.
Tremble you women that are at ease; be troubled you careless ones: strip you and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.
Ever since my friends hippie mom had a plaque with a quote from Revelations that said "harm not the Earth" I have decided to look verses up. The verse in Revelations was of the angles being told not to harm the earth until a certain time was up.
It's about time.
It shouldn't just be conservative Blacks who are upset. Senators Boxer's comments were so racially charged I was sickened. As for Klan Kleagle Byrd it is an outrage he is even in Congress.
Think about it, we know the country is leaning towards a woman president and for years their has been talk of the first black president. Condi Rice would fill both those visions and be an admirable choice
