I'm not a stupid person.....but for the life of me I can not figure out WHY the Democrats after three elections and getting their clocks cleaned.....think this kind of political theater will get them more votes.

They are like the monkey in the cage who is taught if he touches button A he gets a treat.....yet....keeps touching button B and getting the electrical shock.

It just shows how utterly deluded these people are--and how utterly unsuitable they are for any position of power or influence.

This little gem is in today's NYT:

WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 - Trying to show that they remain a force despite their reduced numbers, Senate Democrats on Monday threatened new hurdles for President Bush's cabinet choices and expressed deep misgivings about the planned Social Security changes at the heart of this year's Republican agenda.

Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota said he was mulling whether to try to stall consideration of Michael O. Leavitt, Mr. Bush's choice for health secretary, unless Mr. Dorgan was guaranteed a vote on allowing importation of cheaper prescription drugs.

In addition, a growing number of Democrats are raising issues about the selection of Alberto R. Gonzales as attorney general, a nomination initially headed for quick approval.

It is their new "Southern Strategy". (Sarcasm)

Four hours on this is four hours not spent on something else. Does the Senate EVER feel any urgency over anything?

I don't care WHY they're doing it, I just want them to keep it up!

They don't. They are simply terrified of losing the far left to Nader/Green Party. There is a substantial movement within DU/MoveOn to hijack the DNC/Dem Party outright in favor of an even more radical leftist agenda. "Respectable" Dems, like Feinstein, et al, can't openly court this faction but lunatic Dems like Boxer can. It's just insurance against a fracture in the overall movement.
