The Babs and Klavern Show! (Senate Condi Debate Live Thread)
C-Span ^ | today | me

Posted on 01/25/2005 4:40:04 AM PST by section9

Yes folks, I know it's a couple of hours away, but for you loyal C-Span listeners, the debate will be carried live on C-Span 2 today. Live streaming on C-Span 2's server for those of you with high bandwidth carriers.

Box-o-Rox has asked for a full hour in which to call Dr. Rice a lying slut. Meantime, the senior Senator from the state of West Virginia has brought some friends of his down to testify to Rice's unfitness for her office:

Other Dhimmis have asked for time to object to Dr. Rice as well. Meantime, I wonder if McCain or Hagel will actually rise to her defense?

(...sound of crickets...)

Arlen Specter? Anybody?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

They probably signed the fundraising letter! Hiding in the cloakroom, shivering in fear!

Do we have that Fundraising letter posting on FR?

The Senate rules are such that almost anything can happen.

The Dims still have 1:22 left, so my guess is that anyone could come through that cloakroom once Biden finishes his one hour speech tomorrow.

Shrillary and Kerry could share the remaining 10 minutes..

We all need to email Sen. Corwyn's office and thank him, too. We wanted passion, and sounds like he gave it.

Ugh. Dayton says he hopes Dr. Rice won't impugne his integrity. What a disgusting piece of c*ap he is.

Uh oh...Looks like a job for...

No. Really. I thought I couldn't come up with a hot, steaming, fragrant turd like Boxer. Then Mark Dayton showed up. See what inherited wealth can do to you sometimes?

Chris

There is a thread dedicated to Bab's testimony--on post about 50 something, they have posted the campaign letter asking 2-3 times for money!

Thank you, Captain Obvious. I have the impression that Mark Dayton has the IQ of a clam. Money can't buy one intelligence, obviously.

Agreed but I'd extend that to a good number of the Rep Senators that spoke today. Perhaps tell him to pass along to his collegues we were proud of them all.

As to Salazar. He won by the hair of the last dog. The reason Coors is at home right now is because the Colorado Pubbies found a way to lose an election they should have won. It's a Red state, so Salazar has to play to the center in CO. And in CO, the Center likes Condi.

Bayh does surprise the hell out of me. I've always thought of him as bipartisan. Kerry might have won last year with him on the ticket. Guess I overestimated him. ANYONE who believes that he has to cater to the moonbats shouldn't be President. Methinks Obama intends to support.

Chris

I doubt many are watching C-span right now, but I am hearing Vietnam in the distance.

Marty Meehan D- is taking an hour to discuss Iraq---he just got done saying that it is time for Congress to take back control of foreign policy from the Bush Administration and develop their OWN exit strategy. Doesn't that sound exactly what happened when Congress called John Kerry in front of the them so HE could tell them to tuck tail and run?

I have always been told that the thing that made Vietnam a loss, was the politicians fighting the war instead of the military generals!

FROM OTHER THREAD:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1328458/posts

The Republicans were expecting the Senate to confirm Dr. Rice with little debate and questioning from the Foreign Relations Committee.

They didn't count on me to ask the tough questions. What the Republicans don't realize is, no matter who is in charge in the White House, the role of Congress will always be to act as a check on the Executive branch of government. And when it comes to presidential nominees, the Senate must take its "advise and consent" role during the confirmation process seriously.

That's why I took a stand last week and voiced my concerns about Dr. Rice's misleading statements leading up to the war in Iraq and beyond. I will continue to make my voice heard on the Senate Foreign Relations committee, but in order to put the brakes on four more years of misdirection in Iraq and reckless policies at home, we need to elect more Democrats to the Senate during the 2006 midterm elections.

Click here to contribute to the DSCC today.

Because after Dr. Rice is confirmed, the Senate will face many more crucial decisions in the coming months: confirmation of President Bush's choice for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, social security, Iraq and possibly a Supreme Court nomination. My Democratic colleagues and I will hold the Bush Administration accountable for its decisions. But we will need your help to hold them accountable in the ultimate public hearing: the next midterm elections in 2006.

The Republicans want us Democrats to step back and pave the way not only for this one nominee, but for their entire social, economic and international agenda. We have a chance during the midterm elections to make sure the Republicans don't have four years to do so. The DSCC is working every day to recruit the strongest candidates in every Senate race across the country. They are fighting early and fighting hard, but they need your ongoing support today.

Click here to contribute to the DSCC today.

So while I raise my voice on the Senate floor, I hope you will join us on the campaign trail and send the loudest message of all--one that the Republicans will not be able to ignore--unseating them in the midterm elections and sending more Democrats to the Senate.

Yours sincerely,

Senator Barbara Boxer

QUESTION: Is ANYONE going to beat Biden's ASS for that whole "yes, boss" racist monologue attacking Dr. Rice???!!!@???!@##$!!!!!

No. Everyone in the Senate understands that Joe Biden is a showboat and a blowhard. That's why he'll never really amount to anything. He's all Telly and no Dictionary. Any man, any man on GOD'S GOOD EARTH who would plagiarize from Neil Kinnock, NEIL FREAKING KINNOCK, for God's sake, not only is a flaming butthole but deserves to be horsewhipped in the public square, tarred, feathered, and ridden out of town on a rail.

All he'll ever be is Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member or, if the Dems ever regain a majority, the Chair. He'll never be Majority Leader. He's an A$$hole. Everybody knows it. You saw it when he did that whole shuck and jive "hey boss" routine as if he were wearing blackface. Kerry's the same way. That's why they're exactly where they ought to be: voting on how to spend other people's money, but doing no greater harm than that.

The very rich are very different than you and me.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

#1,413. I saw Senator Cornyn from texas comment tonight on this.

Is not a letter of this type a violation of Senate Ethics?

Just Curious.

The real question about Condi running, or any other Pubbie, will have to wait till after the 06 election..Prez will spend some more capital..take down a few more Dem senators...if Jeb is truly out in 08..as I thik likely..then Bush will have to decide if he wants to remain neutral..or to annoint a successor..easiest way is to have Cheney "retire"..then name his possible/probable successor..

One of the things I have understood from the beginning is that Babs hasn't been acting independently. She's an in-law of the Hilly, don't you know. She's beating up on Condi because the Missus wants her to beat up on Condi to scare Condi off.

What neither the Missus nor Babs realize yet is that Condi knows this, as do Bush and Karl Rove, who probably realized what was up when the Democrats asked for a delay back in December. Condi Rice doesn't scare easily. As a matter of fact, Condi Rice doesn't scare at all, which is what they don't understand over at Chappaqua. They think that she's just another black girl who can be compromised. They're f*#king fools, eductated fools at that, who don't realize what they are about to take on.

Bush has put Rice in the optimal position to be the first among equals in his cabinet. The active phase of the Iraq campaign is over, while the taming of the insurgency and the campaign to spread democratic ideals will become more and more a State Department purview. Expect Rice to be all over the place. If she can pull off a Kissingerian understanding on Israel=Palestine and on the Golan Heights, she'd have quite a notch or two in her belt as 2006 rolls around.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
