Really,You picked it up then.
I saw a clip from this show on one of the news programs this evening reviewing Carson's career. Right after Clinton sat down, Johnny reached down and pulled up a large hourglass which he set on the table in front of him.
"Tip of the hat to Carson for seeing the value in a good joke"And to the audience.
Right on. The Bent One's ego is undambelievable. Shame we weren't planting him instead of Johnny this week!!!
The bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral.
I remember listening to Clinton's speech in total astonishment. Who IS this person? How gauche! Bloviating away as if people had some craving to hear him. And when he said, "In conclusion..." they actually cheered.
How about the 20 minutes under his desk with that fat slob?
what a loooooser
Nothing evolves around them and I would like to hear what was taped when she came in to Philly and met with Street.
In context of the surrounding tributes to Johnny his does appear crass.
I do choose to note the hilarity of the comment. Clinton just slammed the DNC with the truth. Given the poor production they threw this past year, I surely wouldn't wish to stake my career on a guarenteed speaker slot among that crew. Could be the death nail in a career. The only one to emerage unscathed was Obama, and his success was assured no matter what as the Illinois GOP had imploded.
I mean, she didn't get Rich Little at all, they called Phyllis Diller, (Phyllis Diller??????? WTF?) and Kreskin was all over the place. This is the Love Boat of tributes.
Saw that too. Rita's so poorly informed about Johnny and unable to conduct a real interview to boot. The woman doesn't even listen to whoever she's interviewing. It's disrespectful for her to be even trying to talk about Johnny Carson's life and work.
Mr. Me finally speaks. We can all sleep now.
IMO, most of the talking heads were misinformed today; the only show that had anybody who knew what they were talking about was Larry King Live at 9 P.M. EST; he had Carl Reiner, Don Rickles, Merv Griffin, Joan Rivers, and Mike Douglas (who has obviously has had so much facial surgery he doesn't even look like himself anymore -- I would NEVER have even guessed who he was if they hadn't put up his name!).
All those guys KNEW Carson and could comment on real stories; earlier in the day, when the first interviews started, it was quite obvious that the "day time" talking heads were clueless. It was like two generations talking past each other.
I remember watching those 20 minutes. Bill actually came across very well on "The Tonight Show." It certainly helped make up for him looking like a clown at the Democratic convention.
Well stylin19a,I wish you financial
success.Who do you feel for the next one. Tell only me and your beautiful wife:)
Whenever I surfed the channels and happened by Johnny Carson, if Don Rickles was one of the guests I had to stop, no matter what else was on. Carson and Rickles were awesome together!
I also liked it when Rickles was the guest host.
Did they ever do a Dean Martin's Celebrity Roast of Carson?
Oh, I am sure they did! That would have been too good to miss.
Rickles was on earlier in the day with some dimbulb on MSNBC; everything he said went right by her, while I was on the floor laughing.
She asked him at the end if there was one thing he'd like to say to Carson and he said something like "Johnny, couldn't you have waited; the football games were on and here were are doing tributes to you."
She looked like she was going to faint!
ROFL, that is great what Rickles said! I am sure Johnny would have wanted it. He was a very funny and intelligent man.
