Powell was a marshmallow, comparatively. :-)

Reasons for going to war, as stated in resolution:

1. Iraq's harboring of Al-Queda terrorists.
2. Iraq's support for International Terrorism.
3. Iraq's "brutal repression" of its citizens.
4. Iraq's failure to repatriate or give information
   on non-Iraqi citizens detained and captured during
   Gulf War I, including an American serviceman.
5. Failing to properly return property wrongfully
   seized during the Kuwait invasion.
6. The attempted assassination of former 
   President Bush in 1993.
7. America's national security interests in 
   restoring peace and stability to the Persian Gulf.

Another huge reason:
Saddam had ignored UN resolution after UN resolution for over a decade and Bush was just doing what the "global community" was too damn afraid to do!

I seem to remember that the only reason that WMD's became the most talked about reason, was because the "powers that be" thought that the WMD's would be the easiest to get the Security Council to agree upon for the resolution, but that ALL of the reasons were equally justifiable.

Am I correct?

I most remember, as wagglebee stated, the primary reason that Bush and Powell kept bringing up, over and over again, was Iaq's failure to comply with U.N. resolutions; WMD came up over and over again, if I'm not mistaken, because the press kept bringing that up as "the" reason to go to war.

Yes, I remember their concern about WMD...when Powell spoke to the U.N., he had charts and pictures of trucks believed to be mobile carriers of WMD, etc.

I honestly do not remember your take on it, though you may be 100% correct.

Boxer is a fruitcake of course, but am I over-reaching here if I say it's not just Boxer's insanity, but a representation of the full scale, world wide cultural war going on between reality and fantasy or "liberalism" and conservatism, left, right etc.

I think it's of huge philosophical importantance with real world consequences and it's worth sticking with.

Am I a vast right wing conspipratorial paranoid to think that the world wide and American left in conjunction with the Euro's and Islamofascists wants us and our beliefs destroyed? What do these people want? What do they think will be the results of their actions? It's hard for me to believe that they're anything but traitors or insane.

What will they do and say after the Islamofascists nuke NYC and DC? How do they intend to prevent that?

The UN Security Council never approved of the war, so any reason given to them is no longer important. We invaded Iraq based upon PREVIOUS UN resolutions, which authorized force to enforce if necessary. The US Congress also authorized force and this WAS NOT conditional on WMDs. The United States DOES NOT require UN permission to protect our national security.
