WASHINGTON - If you think of a hit television series when you read the words ''West Wing,'' then you probably don't have to worry about your next security clearance polygraph.
But if it brings to mind secret U.S. bases in Jordan, you might have a problem if you have read William Arkin's new book, which amounts to the sort of unauthorized dump of classified information you would have to report to protect your clearance.

Imagine if our media had covered the invasion of Normandy before we actually invaded. This guy should be arrested for Treason.
To Mr. Arkin:
Thank you for your hard work in uncovering many elements of US National Security and publicly discussing programmes that had been closely-held secrets for decades.
Hugs and kisses,
All enemies of the United States of America

Maybe if we don't stop these kind of treasonous leaks we will lose our next D Day. Then the anti-Americans will blame Bush for making the terrorists mad.
Meant to say, Maybe if we don't stop this kind of treasonous leaks we will lose our next D Day. Then the anti-Americans will blame Bush for making the terrorists mad.
LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS
Concerns about national security intensify during wartime. With German and Japanese submarines patrolling off U.S. coasts, great emphasis was placed on educating servicemen and civilians about the need for secrecy concerning military matters, especially troop movements. Central to maintaining national security was the Office of War Information's drive to limit talk about the war in both the public and private arenas of American life. Silence meant security.
According to a Lt. Col. (now retired) Karen Kwiatkowski, Arkin was caught leaking classified material in April 2002. For an interesting insight into the problem that the Bush administration had with the Pentagon, read the Bush-hating Kwiatkowski's "Watching neocons...," which can be accessed on Google.
Personally, I believe in a republic.

If true, why is he still doing it?
This guy should feel lucky that 'toon isn't POTUS right now, or the DEA would be paying him with a no knock warrant and a briefcase full of drugs and money any night now. Of course, he would've been reported as "resisting arrest" by the entrance team.
No one seems to remember that many Federal agencies were merely hit squads for the 'toons back then, and now they're screaming about the Patriot Act. Just a simple observation that this administration follows the rules, yet there is no mention of that fact. Most of the comments on this thread reflect memories of the prior administration, and why we don't dare let the left rule again.

Nevertheless, the article is disgusting in its snobbish recklessness.
What is the American equivalent of beheading, anyway?
The Herald reprinted it from the Post. Don't have to excerpt the Herald, I think you do the Post.
