Well Hillary does have to pick someone to run with. Chosing Boxer would keep it in the family.
Can you imagine a more disgusting ticket?
Boxer and Pelosi?
To: eno_
Maybe, just maybe, it would be better for Republicans to upgrade their nominees so jerks like Biden can't tee off on them.FGS, when you pontificate like that, you just prove how much tunnel vision you have in your agenda-driven posts.
The Democrats would trash Jesus Christ if a Republican nominated him.

As if Biden and his gang were obstructing nominees for any other reason than partisan politics!

Sen. Joseph Biden, a senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said Sunday he was leaning against confirmation of Alberto Gonzales, President Bush's choice to be the next attorney general. The sun is still rising in the East.

So that is why I asked you about Bernie Kerik.
His "rights for me but not for thee" behavior should have knocked him out of consideration way before he was nominated.
Gonzales's limpness on RKBA is the same. Now we have the spectacle of a dim bulb like Biden jacking him up. How is THAT good for Republicans?

I hate to say it, but Kerik's character failings are another indicator of something gone wrong. I'm unclear what the common factor is in these appointments, but could it be that Bush's recruitment teams are asking them the wrong questions?

Well I don't care for Pelosi, but I as bad as she is, her baggage looks more like a wallet when compared to Hillary's.

Two concerns I have with Gonzales are :
Why was he let go from the USAF Academy before graduation ?
Why does he make comments that he supports the reinstatment of the AWB ?

And if you consider RKBA "agenda driven" what does that say about you?It says I can concentrate on more than one thing at a time AND that I can decide for myself what the most important priorities for this country are.
That isn't near the top of the list.

Interesting. We are talking about the AG here. RKBA, the BATFags, and other RKBA-related enforcement issues are under his purview.
Just what do you think is way above RKBA in priority at the DoJ?

As I recall, the Bush administration admitted that the Kerik nomination wasn't as thorough as it should have been. They returned with a solid nominee for the position. Kerik was not a known quantity. And his nomination is history....old news. Anyone here who thinks the administration didn't learn something from that event is someone who hates Bush anyway.
This thread is about the AG position (despite efforts by some to change the subject). In this case, Gonzales is a known quantity. The Dem "opposition" to him has nothing to do with anything other than political pettiness and attempts to frustrate the president.
To: eno_
Actually, we were talking about YOUR AGENDA, not the AG's.
Nice try to divert though. You're pretty good at that.

"Republicans have to WIN elections by energizing conservatives. " The 2008 Republican Presidential candidate has to get $0% of the Hispanic vote to win.
Most conservatives are energized by good minority Republicans including Condaleeza Rice and Colin Powell. Even some by Alan Keyes. Conservatives are not racists.
The only people on FR that I've seen criticize Gonzales are the same ones who frequent the immigration threads complaining about Hispanic immigrants. And they are a very small minority of FR members.
Think there might be a connection?

People are acting like the AG makes policy on his own. As if Gonzalez won't be doing the bidding of Bush.
Lots and lots agenda-driven purists around here.

Let's see:
Bush like Gonzales.
vs.
Gonzales is limp on RKBA and illegals.
Choices, choices, choices...
