WASHINGTON - Sen. Joseph Biden, a senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said Sunday he was leaning against confirmation of Alberto Gonzales, President Bush's choice to be the next attorney general.
Bush's choice of his White House counsel to be the nation's top lawman, "may very well do us more harm internationally because of its relationship with the terror memos," the senator from Delaware said on the ABC News program "This Week."
"My inclination right now is to vote against him," Biden said. He is the third ranking Democrat on the panel.
Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on Gonzales' nomination after Democrats charged he had evaded their questions about Bush administration policies on the treatment of prisoners captured during U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been criticized for his role in shaping those policies.

Rice and Gonzales are two differnet cases.
Gonzales is a limp grey watered down "conservative" who doesn't really trust the people with guns that might kill potential opressors. A Bob Dole Republican. And we all know how that story ends.
Rice is the Real Deal.

You may be right. I just have a hard time believing that the left is going to spend another four years balancing on the left end of the spectrum. Someone has got to figure out that simply will not sell. If they don't, they'll get fewer votes than they did this time, unless ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and PBS own and operate all polling stations.

They have a flavor of the day... Sounds like DU. Every day they have a new candidate who will the election win in 2008.

So, exactly when did Alberto Gonzales say he opposes gun ownership? He never said it; Joe Farah said he is.

If they don't, they'll get fewer votes than they did this time The flaw in that argument is that the left STEALS elections. Look at all the 110% turnouts in cities. Republicans have to WIN elections by energizing conservatives. If Gonzales is an RKBA sellout, that isn't going to get anyone crawling across broken glass to vote.

The only relevance the dumocrats have is in aiding and abetting our enemies.
Giving comfort to the terrorists who are targeting our heroes and the innocent Iraqis.
This will be the left's legacy once again.

It will be great fun to watch, especially when the Clinton machine turns on Kerry. Remember who has the FBI files.
The 'rat primary voters are mostly hard core feminists, because of that I expect Boxer to be Hillary's toughest opponent.

Hagel is on my list of "People Not To Vote for in 2008."I am soooo looking forward to not voting for Hagel in 2008.

Alberto Gonzales is on record as approving renewal of the AWB. Odd position for someone leading the DoJ which recently affirmed a position that RKBA is an individual right, and a step backward for our rights.

OK, how about withdrawing Gonzales, and nominating Roy Moore of Alabama? Just what we need: an AG whose disobeyed a court order.

I'm leaning against it, too. I don't trust Gonzales. Is this the best the President can do? Why can't he appoint another AG who understands the second amendment, and will take a strong stand on illegal immigration? This is symptomatic of the unspoken difficulties we're having getting Bush's judicial appointments approved: the timbre of these men and women is often questionable. The constitution isn't always a document that limits government power in popular ways. But it's not up to the AG to waive or reinterpret the meanings of law.

Is this the best the President can do? Kerik was. Until he wasn't. Maybe we need to step back and rethink this one, too.
