They should post such information for all public employees.

For the 20 years that I was in the US Navy my salary was public knowledge. I do not see that PUBLIC School teachers should be any different.

In "Up the Organization", Robert Townsend said all salaries should be posted. If you see someone being paid more than you but you know you provide more wealth to the corporation then you should quit at once and reapply for your position asking the salary that you believe you deserve. If you are correct than the company (in this case the district) should be obliged to rehire you at the new wage. I believe this move should be repeated in all districts.
It should be followed up by a host of resignations and direct renegotiation of salaries and benefits. The district would be made whole buy the wholesale establishment of a true professional relationship with the district.

I strongly believe ALL public employees salary, expenses, retirement and other benefits should be prominently displayed to the Public.
Some posters here argue that, in the case of some schoolteachers, there are out of pocket expenses paid by the teacher that are not reimbursed. IMO That is wrong and distorts the actual cost of education at schools. Perhaps a standard allowance for materials should be granted but actual expenditures should be reimbursed in some way and properly disclosed as well.

It is public law names, salaries and benefits should be common knowledge. Maybe that way we can stop wasting tax dollars.

If public money is used, it would have to be fully disclosed. I don't see how they get around it. As for Band Teachers, mine was second in salary, with the Superintendent only, above him.
Can/do teachers deduct their expenses? Many jobs require some expenditure by the employee. Uniforms, tools, etc. Do you think that kid that was paid $8/hr to help build your new house was furnished a hammer by his employer? Probably not.
If $9,000/child/year doesn't teach 'em, they're going in the wrong direction. In Indiana, Mitch Daniels put a freeze on building to re-examine the bloated cost/sq. ft.(thank you unions).

Yes, let's resort to name calling. You forgot to use the classic adjectives hateful and phobic.

In Illinois, where public school teacher salaries are exceptionally high, there was a study showing that nearly 85% of every increase in school spending goes straight to existing teacher and administrator salaries. Their pension plans are amazingly generous also. All for a job with very little accountability. There has also been a study that showed education majors have the lowest entering SAT scores of any other majors at most colleges. We are paying a lot and getting very little in return.

In Georgia, teachers retire when they are 55 years old with almost 90% of their salary. That blisters me. They should have to work until they are 65. Can you imagine the reduction in our teachers' costs?

Public education without the option of vouchers is like Social Security without the option of opting out...no competition makes for a poor product output...more government bureaucracy and waste...
