The President, First Lady and their parents relaxed at the White House today. Former President GHW Bush visited the press corps on duty in the WH press briefing room.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: This week, Washington has been marked by pomp and circumstance. In a free nation, these ceremonies are more than pageantry. They underscore that public office is a public trust. America's elected leaders derive their authority from the consent of the American people, whom we serve. This is a high privilege, and that privilege carries a serious responsibility: to confront problems now, instead of passing them on to future generations.
As long as I hold this office, I promise that I will serve all Americans and will work to promote the unity of our great nation. And working together, we will secure the blessings of liberty, not only for ourselves, but for generations of Americans to come.
President George W. Bush, Presidential Radio Address, Jan. 22, 2005.
Yep, you made it in the top 10.
Love your tagline, and yes, I do, everyday! :-)
As for watching the security vehicles and activities, I love it too! In one of the motorcades, I think maybe to church on Inaug. morning, I saw a shot of an SUV with the back open and big men with bug guns inside. I'm glad the pres. is protected so well. I'd like to read a book about the Secret Service, training, how they protect them Pres., etc., but I suppose it's . . . Secret!
According to interviews he's given, the President's father got very nostalgic this time around.
Hello to you! Thank you for the great pics. I'd just logged onto FR when the Dose suddenly appeared at the top of the page--#1 again!
That is such a cool pictures. Is there a list somewhere that tells who everyone is?
What a day Thursday was. Majestic. Great pictures of a great family.
Definitely worth repeating one of my all time favourites.
It was a great week, homemom. Soon enough it will be on to business, but it sure doesn't hurt to savor the inaugural festivities a little longer.
You better call them...they'll send the marshalls after you if you don't go!...LOL
Does anyone have a picture of Coni the night of the inauguration? I have heard that she looked spectacular in a red gown!
I here by myself..Mike is away on Army business..and we are on the edge of this huge wintry storm, so Im staying in where it's warm.
Morgan asked if I'd go to jail if I didn't go . . . she's been itching to get on the computer and I've been "busy" on it all day . . . think she's hoping I'll get hauled away? :-)
If I had to guess, I'd say #2 was informing the lead agent of the detail's status since GWB and his family were back inside the protective bubble at the WH. There would have been a shift change around that time, since the agents on the inaugural detail were up very early, and because they probably no longer needed the massive number of on-duty personnel.
Talked to my dad late this morning. He was just getting up....Seemed he stayed up late last night watching it all again...."I've got it all taped for you" he said. Bless him he does love our president and his family.....
I feel so sad for Jeb and his wife...G.P was there but not their daughter. It must be HEARTBREAKING not to have had her there with the rest of the family. I sincerely hope and pray she kicks the drug habit...GOD BLESS THE BUSH FAMILY!
That is true but knowing me it will probably be about 2.00am
Isn't that a great photo?! Even leaving aside its historical significance, the technical and artistic excellence of that photo is wonderful.
If you find a picture, please ping me to it....I too was wondering about her.....DO we know who her escort was yet?????Yenta #2348 here! ;^)
Signing in from the hair salon (can you believe it?). Love the photos, and thanks so much for sharing them. Can't seem to get enough of these pics. What glamour, what fun.
Very glad to see Cheney's beautiful daughters there. Excellent taste in dress.
