A day in the life of President Bush (1/22/05), many photos

The President, First Lady and their parents relaxed at the White House today. Former President GHW Bush visited the press corps on duty in the WH press briefing room.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: This week, Washington has been marked by pomp and circumstance. In a free nation, these ceremonies are more than pageantry. They underscore that public office is a public trust. America's elected leaders derive their authority from the consent of the American people, whom we serve. This is a high privilege, and that privilege carries a serious responsibility: to confront problems now, instead of passing them on to future generations.

As long as I hold this office, I promise that I will serve all Americans and will work to promote the unity of our great nation. And working together, we will secure the blessings of liberty, not only for ourselves, but for generations of Americans to come.

President George W. Bush, Presidential Radio Address, Jan. 22, 2005.

Did you notice when the President made it to the reviewing stand that the two SS agents sitting behind him were having a whisper session. I had a picture of it, but had to delete them all because our hosting site was full.

I wondered what they were saying.

I thought it was neat that Barbara Sr. wore red, white, and blue to the actual Inaug.

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and his wife, Columba, arrive with their son, George P. Bush and his wife, for the swearing in ceremony of the governor's brother. I'm always amazed whenever I see Jeb and Columba together. She's so tiny, and he's so tall.

Barbara and Jenna laugh with their grandfather before the swearing in ceremony of their father. The girls were very considerate of their maternal grandmother, Jenna Welch. They each took turns escorting the elderly woman to and from events.

The first family departs the North Portico of the White House for the limousine ride to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, where GWB was to take the Oath of Office and begin his second term, Jan. 20, 2005.

The President, First Lady, Jenna and Barbara, and Laura's mother, Jenna Welch, are greeted by St. John's Church Rector Luis Leon, the morning of Jan. 20. At the conclusion of this prayer service, they went to the U.S. Capitol for the swearing in ceremonies.

Hello--I got some form to fill out in the mail today to serve on jury duty--the thing is, we'll be moved to a different county by the time the form has to be in and they get around to doing anything--LOL! There were several big drug busts around here in the last few months (I drove by a house in the country when one was going on) and I'd LOVE to be on that jury--

A note on Barney and Beezie: They were out of sight during inauguration week. However, Mrs. Bush did give an interview with Bill Plante of CBS News. For the first part of the interview, Beezie was sitting on Laura's lap chewing on one of her fingers. The puppy is doing well and has settled in at the WH. Until she's housebroken, she'll sleep in the kitchen in the upstairs living quarters. The First Lady reports that the cat doesn't like the puppy.

I have found a number of photos of Barney as a puppy and am uploading them to a photo hosting site for posting on Sunday's dose. For those who might enjoy a little canine geneology, I even found the pedigrees of Barney and Beezie, and will post them on Sunday also. We'll need the light, enjoyable info on the two dogs to help fortify us for what promises to be a bumpy ride this coming week. The Dims are planning to do all they can to disrupt the confirmation votes for Condi Rice and Alberto Gonzalez.

ALL CLEAR!

Already?

Good day, jonny. Yes, I have an appointment at 1:00pm (Pacific time) today, so had to put this up early. I'll stay awhile on the thread, then come back to it early this evening.
