Hillary's chilly ghost encounter

MOUNT Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary says he has met the ghost of eminent British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton who died during an expedition to Antarctica in 1916.
In a video promoting conservation work on Shackleton's hut in Antarctica, New Zealand's greatest explorer describes how he saw the apparition when he first visited the hut at Ross Island.
"I remember when I first went to Shackleton's hut - and I'm not a person who really sees things very much - but I went inside the door and when I opened the door - it's a rather sort of bare hut inside - but I distinctly saw Shackleton walking towards me and welcoming me and then it all sort of flashed away and he was gone," he said.
"It's the only time I can ever remember something occurring like that so I have a very warm feeling indeed for Shackleton and for his hut and I really believe that those huts ... Shackleton and (Robert Falcon) Scott's ... must be preserved."
Shackleton's hut is listed on the World Monuments Fund's (WMF) 100 most endangered sites, and the New Zealand-based Antarctic Heritage Trust is implementing the conservation plan.
The endangered hut is one of the few wooden buildings remaining on the frozen continent from the golden age of Antarctic exploration at the start of last century, and still contains tins of food and other food items, preserved over the decades.
It was built for the 1907-09 British Antarctic expedition when Shackleton led an attempt on the South Pole.
He turned his team back just 156km from their destination - the furthest south anyone had ventured at that time - when bad weather and dwindling supplies threatened their safe return.
During the expedition, Shackleton's team also made the first ascent of the world's southern-most active volcano - Mount Erebus.
Funding for the conservation work was kickstarted with a $US100,000 ($133,138) grant from American Express, and spokesman Craig Dowling said today the aim was to keep the hut as original as possible, but it was inevitable some building materials would have to be replaced.
And lest we forget, Madame Hitlery channeled the ghost of fellow woman in comfortable shoes, Eleanor Roosevelt.
Oh shucks! I thought this thread was about Hillary seeing Vince Foster's ghost at the inaugural...
You know, Hillary Rodham-Stalin was named for Sir Edmund Hillary, although she was born years before he became well-known.
LOL! That's exactly what I thought when I saw the headline!
...but every so often....
Shackleton was buried over on South Georgia. He would be haunting that island, IMO - the site of his greatest land crossing, one that surpassed him getting to within 97 miles of the Pole. He crossed South Georgia with a carpenter's adze, some rope and no survival gear - after travelling 1,000 miles in an nearly-open whaleboat through the worst ocean in the world.
Bummer, I was hoping that Hitlery Klinton met the Ghost of Christmas Future.
Like MacBeth seeing Banquo's ghost, no? Perhaps, Hillary's planning on going to see the Three Witches...oh, wait...

you guys are the best. these are the best comments ever. truly
Seriously, I did see a documentary on Shackleton's voyage, and it was amazing what they went through and how they managed to survive.

DNA tests, anyone? Enquiring minds want to know!
Did Hillary Clinto really do that? If so, then it should definitely be used against her in 08.
That looks suspiciously like Jimmy Carter.
Three issues.
1. Are Hillary and Eleanor both women in comfortable shoes? Yes. Both are/were bisexual. Google it.
2. Did Hillary claim to channel Eleanor. Yes, including conversations in which Eleanor gave her advice on how to act as First Lady. Google it.
3. Can these be used against her? In the Dimwit primaries, these would help her win the nomination. In the general election, it will be enough to bury her...unless the Supreme Court and McCain-Feingold II makes it a hate crime to mention these things (shredding the 1st Amend. even further).
Hey I don't doubt that it happened, and I've believed it to be true over the years, but that was mainly because of my low opinion of Hillary. I never really bothered to look into it.
If it were something she couldn't deny, then the GOP should definitely use it against her.
