Benny Hinn show begins under tight security

[India News]: Bangalore, Jan 21 : American evangelist Benny Hinn Friday evening began his much-awaited "Festival of Blessings" prayer meeting here, which saw a shutdown call and incidents of stone throwing by protesting Hindu activists earlier in the day.

About 8,000-10,000 policemen have been deployed in and around the sprawling venue to regulate crowds.

Organisers of the show, being held at the Jakkur airstrip on the outskirts of the city, said earlier that about 400,000 people had already gathered for the event from all parts of the country, especially south India. A few hundred also came from abroad.

Speaking to IANS on phone from the venue, they said, "People are still trooping in, awaiting the arrival of Hinn to conduct the mass prayer and deliver sermons. We are expecting 200,000 more people in the night."

The function started with a 2,400-voice choir singing hymns and prayers in several Indian languages apart from English. Giant screens and mega speakers have been installed all over the grounds for a closer view of the massive stage and to listen to Hinn's religious discourses.

Undeterred by the "Bangalore bandh" shutdown call given by the Hindu Jagaran Vedike with the support of the Sangh Parivar, including the Bharatiya Janata party, the organisers are going ahead with the three-day programme, armed with a high court order.

Earlier in the day, the city witnessed stray incidents of stone throwing at moving buses and processions by anti-Hinn activists, demanding a ban on the programme.

According to police, about 60 state-owned buses were damaged in some parts of the city during the day-long shutdown that led to closure of shops and commercial establishments.

Friday being an official holiday on account of Eid, schools, colleges and government offices remained closed, and there was less traffic on roads.

But roads leading to the venue, about 20 km from the city, were choc-a-bloc with hundreds of buses and other vehicles jamming the national highway.

"We have nabbed about 100 miscreants who were indulging in stone throwing and attempting to torch some buses. We have also rounded-up some leaders of the Vedike when they were trying to disrupt traffic and create disturbances," city police commissioner M. Marisamy told IANS.

Good post. Benny Hinn and the rest of the TBN crew is really good at what they do so its easy to see how the could fool someone. At first blush, guys like Kenneth Copeland seem like really good guys - very polished and very strong in the spirit. After all, they are on a religous channel and all

Then, if a person actually listens to what they are saying, it becomes obvious that they may read from the bible every once in a while, but they are not preaching the word of God.

It really bothers me because a lot of people become "innoculated" from the gospel because of these guys. They buy into their ministries and then after they realize the TBN guys are a fraud they will never even listen to anyone legitimate. They really will have a special place in hell.

It also bothers me that my pastor, Charles Stanley, appears on TBN. Only his taped sermons appear on the network and he never visits the TBN set and appears with the Crouches, Kenneth Hagin, Joyce Meyer, Hinn or Morris Cerullo, but I still think it damages his ministry.

That's a good question. I don't pretend to understand everything in the book of Revelations or Isaiah, for example. There is considerable disagreement between Jews and Christians on the prophet Isaiah, which is well beyond the subject of this thread, and greater thinkers than I have tackled them. But you're right. No there is no fixed time within biblical prophetic works. Those prophecies generally refer to the time when the kingdom of the Lord is at hand. No one knows when that time will come. Some people, of course, believe it is real soon now. No one, though, can say with exact certainty as to when.

However, Hinn does give time frames. He predicts recent events, but somehow none of his followers seem to remember his false predictions and always excuse his false teachings. Some time during the 1990s, for example, Hinn predicted Castro would die and there'd be a Christian revival in Cuba. Another said that by the year 2000 all homosexuals would be punished by the Lord with death. Not in the way one might think, either: but to be consumed by fire. Not long after September 11th he predicted that some time between 2002 and 2004 Oral Roberts and Jimmy Swaggart were to both pass away in close succession, and after that there was supposed to have been a terrorist attack on this country that would make 911 look like peanuts. This is one of the predictions that I saw him make personally at one of his events I attended. He clearly indicates that the Lord is speaking through him, that these events are ordained to come about.

With their faith at a high level, those in attendance reached out to Jesus, and miracles began happening all over the audience.

...

The life-changing power of Jesus Christ impacted many hundreds of thousands of lives on this special evening, and anticipation is high for an even greater move of God on Saturday and Sunday.

Translation: come back tomorrow for more miracles.

From the DPF document: The longer I study God's Word, the more convinced I am that a Christian should not be sick.

This is what Hinn teaches: prosperity and health.

I have read websites with false prophecies by Benny and have issues with his style, but I believe God can use anyone to draw His children unto Him. I guess it might be more fruitful to pray that our Heavenly Father would correct any false doctines in the minds of those who are touched by the Holy Spirit through his teaching.

I guess Hinn is not a good enough con man to refrain from giving time frames, although if he is a lurker here, we just helped him with that. As an agnostic, I could care less what sort of religious doctrine Hinn and his televangelist ilk promulgate, but I think that people give money to televangelists for the same reason I chose to spend my money on professional wrestling: it's all entertainment. I look at Benny Hinn the same way I look at any musician, actor, or sports star. Some people just like their act.

I think one of the reasons folks go to his shows is to watch him bowl people over like ninepins. In that sense, you're absolutely right.

Funny thing about God. He claims the sole right to judge those who profess themselves to be his servants.

If I say that I believe in God, I figure that I had better not take liberties with that activity:

Romans 14:4
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

It's up to Him to see to the fraud or anything else that is untoward. If we are smart we will fear Him enough to keep it buttoned.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

WHile the prophet Noah was building the ark those who ridiculed and called him a false prophet may never have lived to see his prophecy vindicated but that did not make him a false prophet.

Do you really imagine that God is so stupid, insignificant or powerless that He cannot arrange to vindicate His own Word and see to it that the false prophets or charltons eat dirt?

When a crowd of children, likely educated by their parents' opinions ran after Elijah taunting him with, "Go up, you bald head.." God confirmed Elijah's status very readily. Read the story at 2 Kings 2:23.

To the children and their parents Elijah wasn't much but God isn't happy with even little children mocking the least of His servants. Take a hint.

Don't like him? Too bad. Don't approve, ask the man's Master to bring correction but for the sake of your own well being have the sense to honor God's word which is what brought us morality and integrity in the first place.

It's not a matter of liking him - he's just not preaching that word of God. Paul was very vocal when he saw issues - he didn't wait for God to smite anyone.

I'm sorry here is Benny Hinn in India with hostile Muslims and Hindus bringing the word of Jesus to a crowd of over 400,000 and then we have our Christian brothers and sisters in the comfort of there homes typing away on FR calling him a Heathen or a Charlatan, who doing the Lord's work today anyways?
He is introducing them to the Messiah The Son of GOD Born a Jew died and was resurrected and sits at rhe right hand of the Father how you can think that is bad in a country full of Hateful Muslims and Hindus is beyond me...

In more than one of your post that I have come across (including one of your earlier threads) you have termed the Hindus as "hostile" and "hateful". I think we have had a discussion on your previous thread where I think I have already explained at length how the Hindus and the Christians have been living side by side harmoniously (for centuries) despite attempts by religious groups on either side to subvert the relationship. And as I remember there was an Indian Christian on the same thread who pretty much endorsed everything I said. Why then do you call the Hindus as "hateful" and "hostile"? It seems to me that you are carrying out a tirade to malign the Hindus. What have the Hindus ever done to you? There sole crime is that they have not yet accepted the word of your (Christian) god? Do you consider all those who do not follow your religion as "hateful" and Hostile"? Isnt that xenophobic?

You wish to spread the message of your (Christian) god to those, for whome you have no love or respect. I have no idea how that is likely to work. Dont be surprised that Hindus are protesting the arrival of Benny Hinn. In anycase anybody has the right to protest but Benny Hinn wouldn't have been allowed to come to India in the first place had the majority of Hindus been anti-Christians or "hostile" and "hateful" as you choose to call them.

As for Benny Hinn, I am not the one to judge if he is a true Christian or not, as I am not a Christian myself but he is not the first one to come to India to spread the message of God. This has been going on for centuries. The Hindus has their message from god, the Buddhist has theirs, the Muslims came to India with theirs and Chirstianity came to India with their message far before they they were allowed to go to Europe. We already have enough messages from God comming from different sources and enough to create a whole lot of trouble for us. You must understand that despite your wishes to the contrary the world is not likely to turn Christian. There is enough room for others who also believe in (the same) God but call it with a different name. In India we share the our world with our co-religionists and we are all free to practice our faith. Please spare us this religious crusade.

Matthew 24:23-25 (New International Version)

23At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect–if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.

Mark 13:21-23 (New International Version)

21At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ[a]!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. 22For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect–if that were possible. 23So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.

2 Thessalonians 2:8-10 (New International Version)

8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

I will believe he is of God when a blind man receives his sight, or an amputee regains his lost limb, or someone with Down's Syndrome is healed.

DENIAL and DELUSION are Very Dangerous ground to be standing on...SEEK THE LORD WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART then...

Take it to The LORD in serious Prayer, ask HIM to search Your Heart...be Willing to Hear HIS Voice concerning this matter.

I will not engage in any further discussions with You or the other Benny Hinnites on FR boards.

What an ignorant remark. Equating mullahs with Christian pastors is the height of ignorance.

Thousands of Chrstian pastors have been murdered for their faith at the hands of Communists and Muslims...and your remark shows you are unaware of that.
