A Call To Arms (Anti-ACLU)
American Protest ^ | 01/14/2005 | John Stephenson

Posted on 01/20/2005 5:22:07 AM PST by Jay777

Why do so many sit aside, holding their anger inside, as activist secular organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) assault our religious expression? Why do so many do nothing, as activist secular judges rule in favor of these anti-Christian organizations? Why do we stay uninvolved?

We have a constitutional right to express our religion. Don’t allow these groups to take that right away under the disguise of a fictional “Separation of Church and State” clause that does not even exist. The answer to the question posed above may lie in the fact that many people don’t know what they can do in order to fight this anti-Christian agenda.

To begin with you can contribute to groups that are already fighting the agenda of these activist organizations. Some of these groups include the American Center for Law and Justice, Thomas More Law Center, Alliance Defense Fund, the Rutherford Institute and Stop the ACLU Coalition.

These groups actively fight the ACLU in the court systems. Many think this isn’t enough, because of the activist judges legislating new laws instead of interpreting them. Some want to sue the ACLU for violating their rights, and some want to lobby Congress to amend a now existing law (42 U.S.C., Section 1988, of the United States Code) which allows judges to award attorney fees to plaintiffs in civil-rights cases brought against local governments, thereby putting the taxpayers on the hook and oftentimes funneling public money to the ACLU. They want the law changed so cases involving the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment would not apply. Some want to form an organization to promote the awareness of the already existing organizations fighting the ACLU agenda. And others want to form an organization to counter the ACLU...

But isn't the ESTABLISHMENT of "atheism" as the only acceptable "American religion" expressly prohibited by the First Amendment?

editorial in todays WSJ asks, will Republicans change the face of government?

will the citizens put the government in its place? will the citizens force their elected representatives to honor their constitution?

do the citizens think it will happen automatically? do they not know how far down the road things have gone, and how any hope of reclaiming our liberty will require nothing short of wholehearted, intelligent, and common self sacrifice?

we have it in us -- it is who we are. let us do it.

Ya know, that song isn't quite as radical as the music and reputation of the Beatles might lead one to think at first...

I'm sorry, I do not have the link - I read the OpEd on the train in the morn. I'm sure there's an on-line subscriber here though who will oblige, but even then I think it's limited to excerpts.

Let us search within us for the hearts of our noble founders and take the baton from them; the moment is at hand; everything this side of eternity is at stake.

ACLU slogan should be:
Taking the 'B' out of "God Bless America"

These groups actively fight the ACLU in the court systems.

Why do anti-ACLU organizations always talk about fighting the legal types within the "court system" instead of in the legislatures.?

The federal courts are not on the side of the people, and generally follow the lead of the High Court.

Once in awhile a federal judge shows his independence, but we are all "one judge away" from having no rights at all, and depending on judges to fight other judges is ludicrous.

Thanks, \/\/ayne

You're welcome! Most Americans would like to stop ACLU control freaks and activist judges from achieving their goal of state enforced atheism. The only question is how can we stop them?

As Jay777 points out, the war is being fought on many fronts. The American Center for Law & Justice fights in court. The Center for Reclaiming America sends petitions to Congress. AmericanProtest.net encourages many forms of protest. But could there be a central organization to oppose the ACLU, an organization that coordinates all defenses and attacks?

Good question.

You can join the fight against the ACLU and their ilk by becoming involved with and supporting the following organizations:

Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) - http://www.alliancedefensefund.org

Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) - http://www.thomasmore.org

American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) - http://www.aclj.org

The Rutherford Institute - http://www.rutherford.org/

Stop the ACLU Coalition - http://www.stoptheaclu.org

Here are a few examples of how two of those organizations are fighting back:

ADF Contacts Over 3,600 School Districts Over Attempts To Censor Christmas

ADF: 700 lawyers ready to fight ACLU lawsuits

ADF: Pentagons' Warning About Boyscouts Is Absurd

Thomas More Law Center: Town of Palm Beach Pays $50,000 In Attorney Fees Apologizes To Women In Nativity Lawsuit

Thanks for the bump. Got a question for you. Some people are not wanting to support the ACLJ through petitions or other means because of their privacy statement. Can't say I blame people for not wanting spam. Seems the only way to opt out is snail mail. Should I write to the ACLJ with this issue? Should others?

Thanks for the anti-ACLU ping!
BTW...it great when O'Reilly and Hannity rip on these folks too, don't hear too much about them otherwise. Seems their cases are all cut from the same mold and very "agenda" driven.
