The following is from an email I received yesterday. I assume that I received it because of my web site.
Oh, well . . . Whatever.
Not One Dime Day - Jan 20, 2005
From: Bill Moyers
Since our religious leaders will not speak out against the war in Iraq, since our political leaders don't have the moral courage to oppose it, Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th, 2005 is "Not One Damn Dime Day" in America.
On "Not One Damn Dime Day," those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending.
During "Not One Damn Dime Day" please don't spend money. Not one damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for necessities or for impulse purchases.
Not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.
On "Not One Damn Dime Day," please boycott Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, the Post Office.... Please don't go to the mall or the local convenience store. Please don't buy any fast food (or any groceries at all for that matter).
Please alert your teenagers, your children, your workplace associates. This is passive resistance at its keenest and most effective, and everyone in the U.S. can participate. Do you have the courage to make an impact on this nation?
For 24 hours, please do what you can to tell our consumer-driven economy that Americans have a message. The object is simple. Remind the people in power that the war in Iraq is immoral and illegal; that they are responsible for starting it and that it is their responsibility to stop it.
"Not One Damn Dime Day" is to remind them, too, that they work for the people of the United States of America, not for the international corporations and K Street lobbyists who represent the corporations and funnel cash into American politics.
"Not One Damn Dime Day" is about supporting the troops. Now 1,200 brave young Americans and over 100,000 Iraqi men, women, and children have died.
The politicians owe our troops a plan - an honorable way to come home.
There's no rally to attend. No marching to do. No left or right wing agenda to rant about. On "Not One Damn Dime Day" you take action by doing nothing. You open your mouth by keeping your wallet closed.
For 24 hours, nothing gets spent, not one damn dime, to remind our religious leaders and our politicians of their moral responsibility to end the war in Iraq and give America back to the people.
Please share this email with as many people as possible.
Commercial speech must not be the only free speech in America!
With great love for our country,
Bill Moyers
A spending boycott from folks who can barely amass a room temperature IQ. Gee, I am very worried; I may need another vodka gimlet to calm my nerves.
To "W"! We'll be partying!
Even Bill Moyers panders to the kooks. The Left is really sinking deep into denial. I just love seeing them depressed and miserable to the point of absurd silliness, like in not spending a dime on Inauguration Day. Keep up the good work!
LOL... I've already read some of the left discussing this. One said he had stocked up so that he wouldn't have to buy anything tomorrow.
BWWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
It won't matter. I'm spending extra tomorrow to make a nice celebratory meal for my family! Think of all the libs who will be so upset they forgot to get gas tonight!!! Just imagine the Democrats who have little to no food in their cabinets, and no liquor to drown their sorrows...so they HAVE to spend on "Not One Damn Dime Day." Makes me all warm inside.
Not French wine, though. I have my own personal "not one damn dime" policy.
I sincerely doubt this is actually from Bill Moyers. And they picked a great day for a boycott, the day before payday!
Nevertheless, I will spend some extra $$ tomorrow. Spent nearly nothing today, so I'm prepared!
Danged right. We're conservatives: we enjoy life while lefties agonize over the plight of tree fungus or whatever is in vogue this week.
Think I'll go do a little consumering on Thursday, maybe a bit more to make up for some slough, liberal weenie (who stocked up on Wednesday)....
did it come from a PBS mail server? what's the return address?
I would have bought something, but things came up and we can't spend any outside money. Does paying our bills count?
Do you think a bunch of people actually pay attention to Bill Moyers? The weather will have more impact on that day's shopping than any amount of leftist angst.
"Does paying our bills count?"
Hey, it is money going into the economy! Pay away!
DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THE DC CHAPTER HEAD OF FREE REPLIC ON NEIL CAVUTO?
IT WILL BE REPEATED TONIGHT
HE WAS COMMENTING ON THESE "PROTESTS"
darn caps lock....
I'm going to go out an buy a car and a new computer tomorrow. Along with some Dunkin Donuts and a bottle of bourbon to celebrate W's second term. Probably fill the gas tank as well.
I doubt this will really affect the economy, what they don't buy tommorrow, they'll buy on Friday. As for me, I'll go fill up my truck's tank and spend $500 to buy a grillguard for my truck and see what else I need.
