Richard Hatch, the first winner of CBS's "Survivor," was charged today with failing to report his $1 million reality TV windfall to the Internal Revenue Service. The below two-count criminal information, unsealed today in U.S. District Court in Rhode Island, charges Hatch with filing a false 2000 tax return that omitted his seven-figure "Survivor" winnings. The nudity enthusiast, 43, is also charged with filing a false return for 2001 (he allegedly did not report $321,000 paid to him by a Boston radio station). If convicted of the felony charges, Hatch could face a maximum of five years in prison for each count and could be hit with a $250,000 fine. Hatch is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Providence federal court January 24. (6 pages)

"What a moron!"
In spades! This is a routine computer cross check function, you can't get away with not reporting something like this!
And with 1M dollars, you can't even say you forgot about it, not that they care about that of course. This is truly a stupid thing to do. There is not even any wiggle room on something as dumb as this.

Well it seems that the BSG Hatch needs some money.. I'm guessing that is why he is appearing on it.

Actually it's probably that, and he was pissed he wasn't gonna be in it anyway. He didn't want it done without him at least showing up.. I kinda agree, I think the old Starbuck should be in there too.
So far this new BSG is really good. Very edgy stuff. A little depressing and nervewracking though.

Maybe CBS can do a Survivor Alcatraz with Hatch as the first castaway.
Sure, and I'll bet they can come up with all the necessary documents too.

Well it seems that the BSG Hatch needs some money.. I'm guessing that is why he is appearing on it.I've seen him in two of the episodes (including last week's SkyOne episode #11), and while he might "need" the money, his acting has gotten a bit less "wooden."

Unless you personally earn hundreds of millions of dollars a year, in which case I bet you could get away with saying you forgot to report one measly little million.

Actually he held certain rights to BSG and tried to get it back on the air for years.
But what really disappointed him was he couldn't play "The Face" on The "A-Team".

I believe he used most of the money to build a big house in R.I., or he added a huge addition to a house he owned. I'm sure the IRS will be happy to auction it off if the taxes plus penalties cannot otherwise be recovered.
