She is dizzy, almost wobbly. Her head aches, her coughing won't stop, and because she doesn't have enough money she has not filled her four prescriptions nor seen a doctor recently.

But that doesn't stop her.

Soon it will be midnight, and Ipifania Dominguez will be back at work cleaning up blood, bone and fat in the world's largest pork slaughterhouse. She'll be back in the "head room," as she calls it, where meat is cut from pigs' heads.

If I found a caddie that could take stokes off my score, I'd pay him a lot more than $60 a bag. The $60 dollar figure is an indicative minimum.

But Kerry was so horrendous...Gephardt, could have beaten Bush.

Ridiculous. You are a sham.
Have fun back slaping with the other isolationists about how "right" you are. Adios.

Yes, I suppose that's true. But where's the fun in THAT?

This observation is asinine. I was responding directly to someone else's comment that most illegals are gang-rapists.

No employees = no employers. Companies having to outsource, relocate overseas and close means less GNP.

Or, if necessary, bring in more LEGAL immigrants to fill those jobs.

Not a chance. As I have made abundantly clear, I don't believe that they are doing anything wrong. Current immigration policy is hypocritical and racist.

Perhaps I should have returned Dred Scott to his "rightful owner" too, right?

But the consequence of taking in millions of Hispanics/Mexicans/whomever, who are unhappy with conditions at home...is that those countries have on incentive to change. We offer positive reinforcement, and Pavlov's dogs are still salivating...Mexicans flee a country where a few have everything and keep most of the people impoverished and miserable. This isn't good for anyone.

He would probably want someone with a steady work history who could pass the background check.

Illegal aliens wouldn't be able to pass a background check, unless you were willing to overlook the fact that they're lawbreakers.

Again, this is a dumb observation. The fact that a guy can earn $120 for 4-5 hours work caddieing in this area is hardly a secret. Those non-union folks are not showing up in droves.

Competition is good for everyone, and if someone comes along that can do my job better than I can at a cheaper price, I certainly can't expect too much sympathy from an employer--if I were the one doing the hiring, I'd hire the other guy, too.

That's fine, as long as the person who is being hired to replace another worker is an American or a legal immigrant. Hiring an illegal alien is a violation of federal immigration laws.

Another thing that puzzles me. Mexicans come here to work and enjoy a better life because their own country can't provide work or even basic medical care without money, but they still hold allegance to Mexico.

Quote: Current immigration policy is hypocritical and racist.

99% of the legal and illegal immigration is from third world countries. However, Very little legal immigration from 1st world "white" countries is happening and or allowed.

How is the current policy racist??

You will hit me with a racist tile but I'm just stating fact. It would be racist if we only allowed in 5% of people from third world countries but it is the other way around.

I don't know what part of Texas you are from. Down here on the border we are seeing more and more cases of TB. A teacher in Weslaco died about 3 weeks ago from TB. About 20 students in Edinburg have tested positive for exposure to TB. There is more testing going on down here. No doubt about it, it will be coming your way.

We are in the Dallas area, and it's here already. Like I said, Walmart in the area had one of their workers tested positive for it.

BTW thanks to Cornyn who wants to legalize them.

"I don't expect much from you along the lines of conscience or shame. "

Over what? Men who refuse to work for $8.00 an hour because it isn't union scale?

The ones who sit around ice houses and pubs all day sipping light beer and bragging about not unloading their tools for less than $22.00 an hour while their wives are working as waitresses and strippers to pay the rent and utilities?

They could get all the work they wanted if they just swallowed their pride and agreed to work for market wages or went to work for a company on salary.

Yeah, Cornyn thinks he is a hero to the illegals. He won't get the vote down here. I think he has gotten it through that illegals or those with shopping cards can stay up to 30 days now. The idiot thinks it made a difference. What Cornyn didn't know was that nobody checks the Mexicans going back home anyway. They have always stayed as long as they have wanted to.

"But it's important that others understand that your 'arguments' are just fig leaves around greed, lawlessness, and selfishness. "

What greed, lawlessness or selfishness? I don't make any profit off of any laborers, legal or otherwise.

Supporting president Bush's guest worker plan is not "lawlessness".

Wanting companies to be able to find employees in the U.S. instead of having to outsource of relocate overseas is not greed or selfishness.

The greed and selfishness is on the part of the union big government socialists who don't care how many companies they force out of business or how many people lose jobs as long as they can squeeze an extra dollar an hour out of employers.

We had ads running here (Wa state) the night before the election with Bush saying he would not reward illegal immigrants.

Can you say flip flop? Sure ya can. /Mr.Rogers

I AM paying the prevailing wage. Your wage is predicated on protectionism.

LOL remember, I'm on your side on this thread. My idea of the prevailing wage is whatever the market will bear, without the interference of government or their labor union stooges.
