She is dizzy, almost wobbly. Her head aches, her coughing won't stop, and because she doesn't have enough money she has not filled her four prescriptions nor seen a doctor recently.

But that doesn't stop her.

Soon it will be midnight, and Ipifania Dominguez will be back at work cleaning up blood, bone and fat in the world's largest pork slaughterhouse. She'll be back in the "head room," as she calls it, where meat is cut from pigs' heads.

Funny though, how Bush picked up more of their votes in the last election. I guess it's just not as big of a deal as the anti-immigration crowd makes it out to be.

In this election, Bush picked up more votes from pretty much every demographic group out there.

The amnesty was floated before the election. It sank like a lead balloon. Why do you think W waited until after the election to bring it up again? He knew the amnesty would hurt him with voters.

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately TB has far worse potential than the others you mentioned, but I think another poster has provided some excellent info for you.

Right now I'm off to work on something that will require a bit of concentration for a while.

I agree. I have never seen so much a "what's in it for me me me-who cares if the other guy gets hurt" outlook on life as what I see in this country anymore. It is going to be our downfall as the worlds most prosperous nation.

"Presidio9

You have no problem with illegals breaking the law. I'm glad I don't have you as my money manager."

You may be on to something. Maybe he is buying more from a maid (who has the run of his house) than cleaning services.

Discretion. Silence.

No employees = no employers. Companies having to outsource, relocate overseas and close means less GNP.

No employees only equals no employers paying slave wages for slave jobs done in slave conditions.

Remember the 13th Amendment? How is the threat of imprisonment and deportation different in any qualitative way from the threat of a whipping?

And how, exactly, do you outsource janitorial services? (This I gotta hear!)

Do you still have "relations" with your wife or do you just pay Juan the pool boy a little overtime?

$6.90/hr is slave wages? Former slaves would disagree.

I'm not sure what you're referring to with $6.90 per hour.

I was recalling the WalMart janitorial contractor who was paying some of their illegal immigrant employees something like $2 a day.

>>>>>>>These "jobs that Americans won't do" used to be starting out at $10/hr in the 70's. Now they are starting at $5-6/hr, with no advancement.<<<<

According to The inflation calculator:

"What cost $10 in 1973 would cost $42.03 in 2003. Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2003 and 1973, they would cost you $10 and $2.38 respectively."

Believe me, most of my customers hire immigrant maids as well. Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure of the immigration status of my maid. I always just assumed that she was illegal, because the only people who will work as maids in Westchester County tend to be illegals. I never asked, because citizenship will not get my house any cleaner so I don't see it as relevant.

And my son, who is more than willing to do some of these jobs (especially farming) is not allowed to due to the asinine child labor laws and the fear of liability.

My customers come to me because I am good at what I do. If I started advertizing that I only hire US citizens to perform menial labor, it would not get me one extra dollar of investment.

"depraved indifference",

Didn't do to well in torts did you.

Not much of a comeback was that ? I guess I haven't had as many brushes with the law as you.

But then again, those who break the law and traffic in the despair and helplessness of others (people who would have excelled as slave merchants two centuries ago) must be human beings who operate on a pretty low moral plane. And the total dishonesty of your arguments from your fake compassion to your "anti-racism", your selfish obliviousness, your utter lack of any moral responsibility, kinda proves this.
