Hagel moves on to the Israeli/Palestinian issue. Will our stance change due to recent election.
Rice: We believe we have a good opportunity here.
There will have to be engagement at all levels. She expects to personally spend an enormous amount of time on this issue.
"And Lugar mentioned 3rd and 4th rounds of Senatorial questions, now that really might drive me to drink!"
Good grief. What a parade of pomposity!
If there is ever an image of "gas filled hot air political bag in Washington DC" that comes to mind, it has got to be Biden. That guy has always got SOMETHING to say and something to complain and granstand about. I take it he is not a very good listener. I think (as with a lot of politicians) there are some deep psycho-social issues at work here.
LOL!
You are so right about that.
Mentions terrorism from Palestinians would be the problem.
Hagel stresses that as Sec of State she would be very involved.
Rice: Absolutely. We cannot afford to miss this opportunity.
Hagel: Immigration question. Refers to her opening statement and makes side note it was excellent.
Rice: President has been proponent of immigration reform going back to his days as governor of Texas. Views it as a humanitarian crisis, notes jobs Americans won't take, not an amnesty.
Notes border control could focus more on possible terrorists crossing if another faction had a more orderly flow.
Hagel says he views immigration reform as more important than Social Security reform.
Sarbanes up and welcomes new members on both sides of the aisle.
(Note: I have reported what was said and withheld personal commentary in this post)
Here is a bona fide snoozer--Sarbanes.
I haven't seen Sarbannes or heard his dulcet tones much lately.......which is fine w/me.
**John F. Kerry
Massachusetts **
LOL! Is he even there?
"I think (as with a lot of politicians) there are some deep psycho-social issues at work here."
No doubt. I read a report the other day that the Blue States have more psychologists per person than the red states. LOL
Zzzzzzzz. No wonder the Senate never gets much done. They render each other unconscious by 11 AM.
ldn't believe how Biden's questions were about military things.
LOL
Couldn't believe how Biden's questions were about military things.
Sarbannes adivice is to listen to all of these pompous asses, I.E. give them a sense of importance.
Sarbanes comatose snooze alert! Tries to back up Biden in his rambling statement..
marker bump
I want to see Condi make Babs cry and run out of the room!
