Reminds me of what my rural Vermont-raised husband and brother used to do to his city cousins in the winter - they'd dare them to lick the metal utility pole next to the house, then laugh when their tongues froze to it.

I see nothing funny about this story. Thankfully, the little cat was rescued, but your laughter only reveals your own innate cruelty. (Note to self: avoid this person.)

I'm a cat lover and I'm very glad this kitty was rescued, but it is a silly story. It was a natural occurrence--it's not like some cruel person did this to the cat. It just happened. It's ok to chuckle...

Poor kitty! Thanks Grandma and kids for saving the cat.

Back in the '70s, my grandparents had a metal refrigerator of some sort - stainless steel, I assume.
I was maybe three or four when I got a wild hair and decided to lick the fridge when no one was around. I stuck like glue.
Then someone got the bright idea of pouring hot water on my face to get me loose.

Just what I was thinking --
The ultimate "Sit-Stay!"
(all my dog's obedience trainer had to do to break her sit was walk by and ask, "Hey! Want a cookie?" Dog jumps up, "Don't mind if I do. Can I jump up and get it?")
That's why she does agility and not obedience. If I can get her across the start line and the finish line, it doesn't matter what happens before or after . . .

You know, if this kind of thing occurrs, and there's no warm water handy, there is an alternative way to get hands etc. unstuck...

Pouring water on the poor cat probably would have been worse for it then being stuck, seeing as how cats love water and all ;-) But I'll bet that's how Grandma got the cat loose...Talk about adding insult to injury...
